OK a little tid bit of chaos. I just graduated from High school a couple of weeks ago, and I want to go to college, and get my RN. BUT, i dont want to wait the rest of the summer and i need help paing for college, my parents are not rich, and i am not poor enopugh to get financial aid, so i got a $30,000 scholorship, and that will not cogver all my college expenses. i will still need about $3,000 more each sememster, but i know my parents will not help me, and i cannot come up with that kind of money, and i dont want to get loans.

I was thinking of enlisting in the NAVY and becoming a Corpsman, same thing as an RN, just with MORE privelages. I want to hear from some Corpsman, if there are any out ther, about training, and where all you have been stationed, and about your deployment. How fun was it? Help if you can, i really would appreciate it......... Thanx in advance

Zoomer - Here are a couple of things to think about.

1. I did a full tour in the Navy - and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I went in for the same reason u did, to get money for college. and it worked. I now have a degree in business admin from University of Hawaii.

2. A corpseman is not an RN - they have those in the Navy too, and they are officers. a corpsman is more like an LPN. unless u are an IDC.

3. You can get student loans to cover the rest of your college - or just get a job. 3000 a semester is not that much.

- My personal stance is this - go join the navy - it will help u transition from a young kid to a young man. i think 18 is too young to be in college - its tuff to be responsible at that age, the navy will help u with that. while in the navy - u can go to college at 80% off tuition - almost free - and still have all the NCF and MGI Bill money left to use for a masters - u can also transfer to OSC once u get your degree, and become an officer like skymaxx is. Just my 2 cents
