I like the 29 Kevin Harvick.... can't count out Tony Stewart either.

Been a Jeff Gordon fan since he arrived. But I have stepped away from NASCAR the last couple seasons because frankly it's gotten pretty routine. I won't rant here since it's a fan thread. But I just think it needs some new life.

Since the inception of the chase, imo the championship is meaningless. No way in hell would the 48 have 4 going on 5 in the old format that Earnhardt did it in. Who ever came up with this format is a clown, "hey lets wipe out what everyone did all season, and only let 12 guys run for the championship, the rest of you, well do what you want, the rest of your season is meaningless anyway". How f-in stupid is that! I will be happy with ANYONE other than the 48 winning, I am sick of him and Knaus.

The 24 would have 6 championships if it wasn't for the chase.

And the 48 probably wouldn't have 2. Just the fact that he has 4 in a row shows exactly how awful the Chase format is. 26 races of minimal importance. And you only have to shine in 10.

You still gotta give that to them. They took the chase format and really figured it out.

Oh c'mon guys. You make it seem like it's a cakewalk to get to the top 10 after 26 races. Just getting there takes a lot of work, talent (and luck, hey it's racing). I won't say I love the chase but IMO it's better from an entertainment standpoint that straight points all the way through. The Nascar season is too long for that sort of system to provide great entertainment year after year. If Nascar was like most other series and only held 15 - 20 races there would be little need for a playoff format to create a closer championship run. The length of the Nascar season is it's own enemy when it comes to consistantly entertaining championship titles. Just my 2 cents though.

I do wish they'd change for details though in a manner that would take into consideration in some manner what everybody has attained throughout the first 26 races. The first chase format was better with the staggered points reset. I don't see why they just don't combine both methods of a staggered reset PLUS the wins bonuses. I have other opinions but I don't want to keep ranting...
