Anyone been playing the Nascar 09 video game? I played around with 08 and thought it was ok, so today I had one of those want to buy a video game days and saw it at wally-world, so I got it. I like how finnicky (sp) the controls are at 200 mph, tha career mode might keep me entertained a little longer than most games, which usually have a lifespan of about 2 hours until I'm board.

If you've played Nascar 09, what did you think about it? I have it for X-Box 360.

I've been eyeballing it, but it didn't get very good reviews. I had '05 and it was ok. I'm more used to simulations and play Forza 2 a lot. I currently have my eye on either a second-hand copy of DiRT or maybe Grid.

I thought Dirt was and excellent game. The CORR racing was amazing, and it had so many different racing aspects that kept me from getting bored. Everything from buggies, to CORR, to big rigs and these garbage truck looking things, to touregs.

I wasn't impressed with the reviews for 08, which is why I bought 09. The biggest con with 08 seemed to be a lack of career mode, and 09 has an interesting system for the career mode.

I've been wanting this as well. I was recently talking to Tom about it. I'd love to race a couple guys here online, that would be fun as hell. Except some members use that stupid microsoft machine. ick. :stick:

What were the particular negative that you've read about?

Dirt is sweet. I'm surprized you're not looking at F1 Championsip Edition. Sweet game. If you want something that's really gonna challenge you as a simulator, F1 is it.

Thought F1 was a PS3 game. I'm on Wii and 360.

And I read the NASCAR 09 review on ign.com. Didn't say great things about it. Rated it as "Passable".

I played NASCAR 09 and rc'ed for almost 3 days strait at my friends. It was on the 360 and I was racing against people on xbox live. It was awsome. I ended up being ranked 13th out of everyone that plays at lowes. Its cool because you actually can change every little thing in your car to make it that much better.

IF you don't like Jeff Gordon then i wouldn't recommend it Jeff helps you go threw training and what not

i played the demo and i didnt really like it. the concept of turning left in real life is much more exciting. you dont get that fuzy feeling at 200 like in real life.

Ok, I just read that article...

Can you say biased? I think it is rediculously obvious that it was written by somebody who simply doesn't get Nascar. And I don't say that just because he pretty much says so in his opening paragraph. You can just tell. I can understand nitpicking the visuals and whatnot but when it comes down gameplay all he's doing is complaining about how much of a "game" it isn't. Well, IMO it isn't supposed to be a "game", it's supposed to be a "sim". Big difference there. If you don't like the sport, you won't like the game. I think that's pretty plain and simple. that article dosn't disuade me at all. Just not a fair approach.

I read the reviews of 08 and they left something to be desired. I've spent a few hours with 09, after playing 08 yesterday, and it's like night and day. I would have said that nascar 08 was an "OK" game. I have to say that this is lightyears better than 08, in graphics, gameplay, and most importantly, it has a career mode. I definitely reccomend this game to at least be rented. I'm not a big nascar fan, and I play on normal mode. There is a pro mode that is more sim like for serious stock car experienced junkies. I'm liking normal mode though, and was surprised how much I like this game. The reviews from real users at gamespot.com seem to be MUCH better than Nascar 08. I have to say that I'm glad i spent the money on Nascar 09.
