When I tried to start my t maxx it just kept trying to start but wont. I checked the glow plug and it looks pretty new. I have no clue why it wont start.

Did you try to prime it first? Take the fuel tubing off of the fitting on top of the exhaust pipe and blow into it just until you see fuel reach the carb. Also, take out the glow plug and connect it to your glow plug ignitor, if it turns red when attached to your ignitor, your good to go. If you still have the blue ez start wire attached, pull out the plug, and connect it to the glow plug, turn over the motor with the starter wand and see if the plug turns red.

If you have already primed, you might have flooded it. If it is flooded you will know by taking out the glow plug and tipping the truck upside down, if fuel pours out, its flooded. While it is tipped upside down, use your starter wand to turn over the engine and get rid of all that excess fuel, then put your glow plug back in and try again.

One last thing you might want to check is the one way bearing to see if it is worn out or not, if this is slipping, you wont be able to start the motor either.

Hope this helps

I dont know what was wrong. I messed with the ez start a little then held my finger over the carb and it started right up.

I had,,,,

the similar problem on my sons 1.5 pro. I found out by watching my green light on the starter wand that my blue wire was bad. Green light would come on, but not get bright or flicker. While cranking the engine over I messed with the blue wire and the light would get bright then it would fire up so I got him a new harness. Just my experience there. :)

Do yourself a favor and get rid of that blue ez start wire!! Get a glow plug ignitor, it will not add much time to the starting process and will allow the glow plug to burn hotter when trying to fire it up. You can keep the ez start harness but just cut off the blue wire. You will also be able to check your glow plug to see if it is still good or not. I had a glow plug in my maxx for quite a while, but it seemed as though it was taking a little too long to fire it up, when I put the plug onto the ignitor, it would turn red, but not all the way to the end of the coil. Just my opinion, you can do whatever you want.

I think what happened is that you primed the carb by doing this. What did you mess with on your ez start? Maybe you need a new ez start harness.

I second the motion to remove the glow ignitor wire from the EZ-Start harness. Both of my buds have had problems with theirs and now use glow drivers instead, much easier starts.

the wires do fray pretty easily to i have noticed so I used shrink tubing and presto alot less problems cause the outer casing wasn't getting worn and the little tiny wire inside had alittle more cushion on the outerside so the wire will stay together longer... Thats all I did and have alot better luck with them now... another thing to look for is in your e-z start connector on the truck make sure you dont have it caked with anything or any little rocks in there keaping from making a connection I am thinking about making a flap over mine to keep stuff out of it..

i think the one way bearing is worn out. Is that the bearing between the motor and the ez start? The ez start motor is turning but it is not turning the motor. Does that mean the one way bearing is worn out?

yes, it sounds like its shot, easy replacement, just make certain to have the text on the new bearing facing the engine or it wont start. I learned the hard way once, took forever to figure out.

well I decided to heat up the glow plug with a hair dryer and the ez start started turning the motor over, so i think its the blue wire running to the glow plug but it still didnt start but it was really trying to then the ez start motor started smoking so I stopped.

I put my one way bearing on backwards in a rush once. When I tried starting after a minute or two it made the starter start smoking. Took a bit but once I figured it out and flipped it,the starter still worked. Of course a week later in a tragic barrel roll the starter terminal snapped.

Yeah, it sounds to me like your one way bearing is done.
You can tell if the one way bearing is shot if you can hear the motor sputtering when trying to start.

I had the same problem with mine, ez start motor was smoking after trying to start for a while. If I were you, I would get a new ez start harness (keep the blue wire or not is up to you) and get a new one way and you should be good to go. I doubt that the ez start motor is shot, at first I thought the same thing, but after I replaced the harness (and got rid of the blue wire) and replaced the one way bearing, everything was great and I didnt have to buy a new starter motor. As mentioned, be sure to have the one way bearing installed corrrectly or you will be swearing!!!lol.

you guys got lucky or maybe I was just flipping to much and I mighta kild the starter motor by making it try and turn the motor over quite a few times... I couldnt get it started with a new motor and starter motor and all that happy stuff and then me being me lack of patients.... I learned to walk away for a few minutes and to do something to get my mind off it for a half hour or so.... now that I think of it I think my one way bearing is going....... I know I didnt ask any question but thanks for the info

well i bought new ez start motor because the other one was messed up, new wiring harness, new glow plug, new gas hose because i just wanted the green ones, and it started right up. I had to clean the old one way bearing because my LHS didn't have any. Now I think the one way bearing is completely gone out but I am going to buy a brand new one.

they arent to expensive I should get a few of these parts to have kicken around myselfe for any simple problems that could keap you from runnig your rig for a day or so... I always have a few parts on hand but you could never have to many spares!!!
