  1. Bashing
So lets go on a trip back in July. Got a .15 big block converted MAXX. Hyper .21 in it, busted up servo's, and that was it. I thought I had a T-MAXX. Couple weeks later, no compression left. fiddlesticks it, I'll buy a 3.3. What? Won't fit? Dammit. New chassis time. I already bought a 2.5 chassis, but that did fit my big block. Screw it. Let's order a new 3.3 chassis, with all the extended parts. Yay, it's insta... Crap, I need new center driveshafts? Dammit. 1 week later. Installed. Try to install transmission... great, stripped out hex heads. Break them out. Need new transmission case. Order 3.3 transmission case. Dammit, I need #4991, not the 3.3 case! Okay, it's all installed! Let's drive it! Annnnnnnd I can't get it started. The piston and sleeve were super tight. Somehow got it started. Time to break it in! 1st tank done! Dad takes truck, chases me on the lawn mower at full speed. Kill lawn mower, run over and shut truck off. Wtf, dad, we have to break it in first! "Oh.". *sigh*

3rd tank done. Take it to the shop I work at. 4th tank done. Half way through fifth tank, I flip it, crack gas tank. Dammit! I hate this truck. New tank, new line, new heat shield. Finally! Let's start driving it! First jump, break stub axle. Drive to hobby shop and get over charged. Fix it, drive it. Won't idle. Re-tune. fiddlesticks it, put it away. Next day at shop, break it out, hit car tire. Nothing broken, except it idles really high whenever it comes to a stop now. *sigh* leave that problem alone. Break half shaft. Screw it, I'll upgrade to 3.3 width. Oh, I need new axle carriers and bearings. Great. Ordered. New tie-rods as well. All fixed! Here dad, you can drive your truck now! "The wheels wobble." You didn't order the caster spacers I told you to. "Oh. It idled really high when I got stuck on a snow hill." Bring it back to the garage. Completely stripped Robinson Racing spur. Took forever to find out what the spur actually was.

Now I need new screws for the clutch plate. He won't put anymore money into this truck he bought for himself, so either I pay for the parts or we sell it. I'm so sick of this truck. So fricken frustrating.

Any similar stories?

I am getting there! I picked up a 2.5 a couple weeks ago on a trade deal. The guy said everything was good the only issue was that he has not run it in awhile. Sooooooooo, to start off, I can't get the thing to start. Upon further inspection I find that the carb is cracked, order new carb and also find that the ignitor wire is severed so I order a hand held ignitor to not have to worry about it. Get the parts in and find that the motor has little to no compression and the stock pipe is also split at the mold. So I do some research and decide to go with the Dynamite .19 and a new Resonator Pipe and find that the fuel lines have leaks so order new lines too. Next, the glo plug goes out so go get some new plugs and am now out of fuel so buy some more fuel. Next, the shocks are trash so gotta order some new big bores for it and the battery that he gave me for the starter is now bad so get a new battery too. Now, the screws for the starter motor have come loose and I have lost one of them so tomorrow, gotta go pick up new screws for the starter motor. I have found that it would of been cheaper to just buy a new truck from the shop! The truck runs decent, just needs some fine tuning, it stalls after I let off the throttle after it hits second gear but idles fine at low speeds. I will NEVER get a used truck again. I love it tho!

Assume the worst, hope for the best when purchasing used RC's. That's what I've learned.
On very rare occasions can you actually fuel up, add batteries and roll right out of the box.

Even though I go through my trucks top to bottom, inside and out before I sell them, I strongly discourage nitro newbies and RC newbies from buying my used rigs, or anyone else's used rigs for that matter. Theres a lot to learn about these things to begin with, it's frustrating having to make repairs at the same time. That's why I always suggest new trucks. Instructions, warranties, etc.

@savage, I'm confused with what you have and/or had. Was it a 4910 Pro .15 converted to a Big Block chassis with a .21 engine? Did you have the black or grey tranny case?
If you have a 2.5 chassis the 3.3 engine fits like a glove with either the black or grey trans. Regardless, you could easily sell any surplus parts you have on ebay.
Did you have the body on when you flipped and cracked the tank?

Original 4910 with .15. He converted it with a New Era Designs big block conversion kit. (Extended skids and chassis and new mount) my dad picked it up at a flea market for $80 already converted to .21.

Black tranny no reverse.

Bought 2.5 chassis, couldn't do anything because of stripped heads bolting on tranny. Broke the braces to get the screws out, said screw it, lets make it extended. Needed new braces anyway. Bought 3.3 chassis with everything needed to convert. There was another reason I did this but can't remember.

No body on when it rolled.

I switched over to a pull start today and thought I was going to need a new one way bearing cause it was having a hard time catching. Turned out that it just needed to be cleaned. WOOHOO, money saved! Those bearings are pricey.

It works great now. Why can't it ever work amazingly when I need it to? I better re-tune the idle.

Gotta love T-MAXX's. ;)
