I run a buku pipe and love it, also you can check out ercm his pipes seam to be great with picco eng.

I have one of Robins pipes for my OS 21 in my Revo and it woke that engine up really well. I considered getting one for this setup aswell but at the time didn't want to spend the money and I didn't and still don't want to run a single shock setup. Although I guess I could always use the header from the RDLogics pipe and do the same setup as the ripple tuned pipe.

IDK I guess time will tell as to what I decide to do....Decisions, decisions ;)

Ya know since I did a side bleed with the ERCM pipe on the revo, I could always try it out on the Maxx...Only thing is its a small block pipe so It wouldn't give the most power to the engine.

That header looks just like the one for my THS pipe.

Well ain't that some poop, I looked at THS for one of the manifolds and didn't see one. Come to find out RDlogics does sell just the manifold for $25. THS is cheaper but I already picked up one.

Thanks for the post, how do you like the THS pipe?

So far I like a lot, I have switched fuel brands so I need to get out there & get some more run time in.

I have 2.5's on both our trucks, same air filters but the THS on mine & the Traxxas Resonator on hers so once I get them re~tuned to the new fuel it will be
interesting to see if one outperforms the other.

Even with the old stale fuel there was a very noticeable difference between the old plastic pipes & button filters & the new high-flow filters & resonator pipes.

Got these in yesterday! Started putting them together last night. They are still larger than what I wanted to run but I like them way more than the Big Joes. If I can find the bearing today locally for the Pinion then I should be able to get a video up of her running sunday.

Went with the Desperado Black Chrome Zero Offset wheels :D

Nice looking setup, I like it. You would have benefited a lot with some off set, it would have stopped your truck from flipping over on fast turns.

Man I hate you! Lol I think I'm just jealous my rc funds are lacking. Just built a vta car but damn now I want to hop up my Losi Aftershock LE. But I ain't got the money to do it. I think over the winter I'm going to start, just little stuff for now, like RPM arms, tuned pipe, aluminum shocks, sway bar kit, doing a mod to fit some 17mm hex wheels on.

The truck looks sweet, that body us nice I love the Color selection and great job for your first try.

Thanks! I didn't want the offset wheels with these big tires cause of the extra stress it would of put on the arms and drive line. The way I have the suspension setup she handles really well in the turns. I can be going WOT in the grass and it will bite really good on a hard turn.

If you want to build a T-Maxx like this then I suggest you go ahead and start getting the major parts (like the FLM stuff) that have already discontinued some of there Maxx stuff so who knows how long the rest will still be in production. Unless you were talking about Upgrading your Losi.

I can say this I didn't build this Maxx over night though, I have had the stock Maxx for over 2 years. I had parts laying in my tool box from when I first bought it that I had yet to use. It took me a long time to finally finish the build. Just buy one part at a time every paycheck or something and within a few months you will have everything you need to get your base build done. When its finished then you can tweak things here and there to get it exactly how you want it.

Thanks for looking! Did I sell you the RC10GT?

Love the trenchers,I got trencher x on 1/2 in offset on my maxx and my bros flm chassis maxx and they hook up like crazy and make them very stable at high speed

No I'm talking about upgrading the losi, I'm not that big into the tmaxx I really like the aftershock and lst based trucks for their size. Which comes at bigger price as well ($143 to upgrade the 4 shocks to the nice blue aluminum)

I'm kind of doing it one piece at time, well I got a few upgrades already but not installed. But now I'm putting away $40 a pay cheque and waiting until I get enough saved for the majority of my hop ups, then in going to order them online or go to the hobby shop that's an hour and a half away and get what I can and order the rest. I live in a small town and the lhs carries no losi at all but the micros and minis. Then when I got what I'm happy with for the time being I'm going to tear down and install them, like what you did saves time and some headaches.

With the 1/2 offset do you loose any of your steering sweep? Come to find out the zero offset doesn't allow for full sweep. The tires end up rubbing on the a-arms. These may go up for sale, I haven't even run them yet cause of the sweep issue, don't want to set the EPA to compensate and loose that much steering.

I run 1/2 off set rims and I dont have any problems with end to end turning, personally I will never run anything but a off set rim, it turned my tmaxx into a zr1 Corvette as far as the handling goes..

Well guys I have very disappointing feelings with this T-Maxx build :/

Truck looks great, solid as a rock from what driving I have gotten in and handles very well....BUT this motor is getting me down pretty hard as I cannot get a good tune on it. I am already not that wonderful tuning nitro motors but with my OS .21 on the Revo I could atleast get it dialed in enough to drive it until I broke something. This Picco just doesn't like being tuned. I have sealed the motor, replaced the front bearing and tried different exhaust setups on it. I have also tried 20% and 30% fuel and still can't get it.

I get the HSN and Idle set right and the LSN acts lean so I richen it up but then my truck idles to low. So I increase the idle and then it wants to hang and the low end isn't as responsive so I lean in the LSN some and then the idle wants to hang again. I'm fighting these two needles and I don't know what else to do....Out of the box the needle settings were WAY WAY off, my LHS nitro expert got it dialed in for me with 3 turns out on the HSN and 4 1/2 out on the LSN. So that has been my base settings I've been starting at. Any more rich out and the motor wont start or bogs down and dies when accelerating cause its to rich.

I'm seriously considering selling off the Picco and slapping an OS .21 in this thing. Honestly the Picco has way more power than anyone should ever need in a basher like this and the tuning is such a headache it's almost converting me to brushless. AHHHHHHH I don't wanna do that........................

Any thoughts guys? I have been doing some research and have found that without a true big block pipe setup these motors don't want to hold a tune at all and I have also read that the composite/metal carbs are what keeps the idle hanging. Found a really old archived post from someone who was racing this motor when it first came out and used some kind of sealer around where the composite and metal meet. He claims all the idle hang issues went away. I wish I could find that thread again.

i get wayy better steering with this setup i reciecntly did a full rebuild on my maxx 4909-4907 and thought while i was at it i changed the steering servo to a savox sc-0251 and all i can say is way no were near as many roll overs and the steering is so sharp and precise

on the engine side of things i havent run the picco but i've been looking into going to that once the tm523 dies.i have an os 18tm in a 2.5 and thats a great little engine not bad considering i got it with the 2.5 as a roller and was told it was dead, just needs new bearings and a manifold seal
if you could find one i would strongly recommend a rb bit pricey but brillant engine and my t maxx just has the edge on my embe on 4s

just re-read the bottom of your post try some lucky 7 engine sealer for amain

He's not looking to replace his eng, and a servo will not stop his tmaxx from flipping.

The pico is a good eng, a bit tricky to tune, you are right, you do need the correct pipe/header for this eng to run at its best.

Call ERCM and talk to him on the phone, he is very nice and very helpful, tell him what's going on and see if he can help you, he has helped me a few times and his advice was dead on.

Don't get frustrated its a hobby, you will always put money in it left and right, just when you think your done you change something around I guaranty it...

chickenman - I will give that lucky 7 a try where the aluminum and composite meet, thanks for the info!

nikko - I have contacted Robin and I have dealt with him before...He is an outstanding guy that is for sure. He build my side pipe for my OS 21TM in my Revo. Came out fantastic and opened that motor up alot!

I have been thinking about this a lot and honestly I think I am just going to convert the T-Maxx over to a brushless setup. I'm going to keep it exactly how it is and use something similar to How2RC's 3.3 conversion mount. I have looked at RC-Monsters universal fit mount for the savage but am not sure if the mounting holes will line up correctly for the Maxx....

I'm just getting burnt out with nitro...The amount of crap you have to carry around with you and keep on hand, tuning, glow plugs, nitro fuel, etc. It's just getting old and where I live I can't just go out back and run my stuff cause of the noise. I have to load up and drive somewhere, that alone gets frustrating.

So this is my plan, I love the way my T-Maxx came out, I am not going to get rid of the T-Maxx. I have my 5B, Boat, Savage, Revo, Maxx and am looking to build a Crawler and Truggy in the future. The Savage is going to get the gas 2 stroke (when and if it gets released), the Revo will stay nitro, convert the Maxx and then ofcourse my gas 2 stroke boat and 5B. I'll have a little of everything and still have some nitro to tinker on when I feel like it.

Sounds like you have it all figured out, good luck with your projects, and if you want to sell the pico let me know.

If thats all the candy your going to hand out on Halloween (1st pic) and have the bags stashed for yourself, right on brotha, :hehe: Haha!!
