hi all.

well I've FINALLY got my used (1/2 gallon of 10% through it) sirio .18tx through the post and it doesn't seem right.

when i turn the flywheel, as it hits tdc it doesn't sorta go over it (if you get me?). it just like goes into a position like in the middle:ponder2: of tdc?

now it might be because its got no fuel in. I'm going to attempt running it tomorrow but i just wanted to if any of you R/C Headz could help me out.

thanks

Alex

p.s is it ok to run the engine with no clutch shoes on (but with a fly wheel) and in a vice?

not totaly sure if i understand but if you feel resistance & a pop at tdc i think its good

NO do not run your engine without being in the car,... or for the advanced rc'er a prop conected to the engine ...it needs to have resistance

ugh, ok i wont run it in the vice. (it will be such alot of haslle having to take all the clutch shoes and everything off my old engine:angry:)

well, it just like locks into position and is like trying to move the piston down either way i turn it.

it goes; bump,bump, pop.

If you look around ebay they have Break in engine stands. But do not run your engine unless on a stand made for that purpose or mounted in your car.

do i still need to fit the clutch shoes to it?

I'm not going to rev it i just want to see if it runs.

hmm siro iv had allmost every one of my siro's do this at one time or nother..

siro is a hit and miss motor you may get a bad one you may get a good one..

go with os. much eayser to get parts.. and runs beter and 2 year warnty.

Well pretty new high performance engines are VERY VERY tight and will offer a BIG deal of resistance when reaching the top end of the piston travel when turned manually.I put a bit of after run oil and turn them over, just to check.Just have this habit.

When I first got my Mega for my Serpent 710 is said damn this engine will need preheating before any startup. And other engines like the HPI MT2 18SS engine feels...lose in comparison.

:2cents:

On some of my tighter motors a little secondary resistance is felt just before the "pop". Maybe that is what you are experiencing. If it runs right, why worry?

Mega, I have no experience with the Sirio mill personally, but my Wasp .28 did that exact same thing, so I know what you are referring to. I think you're good to go!

Good luck!
