Hey guys.

Had it for about a month now (hence my absence :D), ran over 1 US Gallon of Byron 30% fuel through it - broken in and tuned perfectly on both high and low end (if slightly rich).

Here's a pic of the vehicle with it's shell on; pity it was the orange body and not the blue ( as i didn't specify which one to send...i wanted to be surprised but was secretly hoping for blue :()

Here's a closeup of the K5.9 with the HPI Ribbed exhaust, which frankly looks much more appealing compared to the silver stock one (and probably less restrictive, which'll = higher RPM + lower temps):

I did a little mod to the 5.9 in the form of Artic Silver 5 thermal paste (which is used in P.C's) between the heatsink and the engine. which does aid in thermal transfer and is worthwhile doing; so long as your very careful not to get even a spec in the crankcase, otherwise say buh-bye 5.9!.

And finally, here's a few other pics:

(^ don't ask me why the dog is so interested. perhaps it's due to the oil sprays + nitro cleaner i use. that or i likely ran through some dog poop on my last run.)

I used a friends mobile phone to take these images. when i can afford my own phone with a decent camera: expect video's on youtube very soon :).

put some peanut butter on it and watch him chase it all over the yard, lol
congrats on your new savage!!

i hope you were talking about the savage.........

hahaha! nice one!.

Nah, the noise the thing makes freaks him out. he's a nightmare to control outdoors (the dog that is) as is. so both these things outside would be near impossible to manage XD. so full of energy, very friendly and playful...just your normal springer. heh.

handeling?

yo I've herd lots of great things about this XL and I'm loooking to get one in a bit but i have also herd that the handling sucks for the savage i now the savage x 4.6 has a bad turning radias and was wondering if anythng has changed with this huge 5.9 XL is it any better or is it still a bashing savage:p:

HOLY CRAP! I just realized that there's a new tranny case for the 3 speed! Where can i get one. I'd love to be able to adjust it WITHOUT tearing it up.

hey thingamajig,

did you realize that year fuel lines are not hooked up properly? Just noticed that and wondered why they would be like that.
one is going from the carb to the pipe and the other is going from the tank to the tank???
Beautiful truck though and welcome to Savageland

It doesn't have a rubber cap on the transmission that you can take off and adjust the screw??

Love the truck Thingamajig!!!

It's intentional. i connect it up that way for storage, as obviously i can't run the car with it connected like that XD. I'm sure most you guys know the fuel contains methanol, which'll literally suck moisture out of the air - very bad for an engine.....even when the tank been ran dry some fuel is usually contained within the fuel line. because of this i unplug it from the engine and hook it onto the lid of the tank. then plug the pressure line into the engine which stops any dirt entering the carb.

I'm surpised nobody else did this :D.

Oh yes, it does (check third pic). although I've had alot of problems tweaking my transmission so it shifts to gear 3 at the perfect time. and I've read alot of people suffering similar.

Okay one thing that i see that HPI really slaked off on is the roll cage. Is it just me or does the back part of the boll bar jut hang there in the air?

i just hangs there because of the extended tvps. they did drop the ball on the roll cage.

yeah, i was surprised with this as well, when i put it on (because at factory it's off) i thought perhaps i was missing something but this wasn't the case. and also, enless you cut the bodyshell to size it'll eventually split it.

I recently cut the shell to suite shortly after taking the above images. i may post pictures of this later.

i have re-posted the thread i had put up awhile ago concerning a fix to the roll cage issue for xl owners
"savage xl cooling head guard issue"
