I just bought a Used savage. It came in 3 peices.the center section, rear suspension and front suspension. I assembled it and got it running but it won't go!

I can see the gears moving in the transmission case. I even took the transmission apart to inspect it. It seems like the 2speed clutch is in backward from the way i would expect it to work. However it is installed the way the manual says it goes.

If I spin the spur gear clockwise (the way the motor spins it) the gears in the tranny just free spool. If I turn it counter clockwise (opisite motor) the gears lock. Shouldn't the work the other way?

Any Ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks,
MIke

hi
if you spin the spur gear clockwise it should just spin if you spin it anti clock wise it should drive the wheels,if it dont has it got reverse if it has check that, also if it has ally diff housing check that the diffs are the right way round, also check the brake is free not binding, have you looked at the clutch make sure its all free moving,

Check the pins in your wheel hexes also. I know it seems simple but someone here posted the same problem and it was his pins. He forgot to put them in.

Ok, I'm an idiot. I'm using a 2 channel radio because the savage didn't come with radio/reciever. It has reverse and the module switch was sitting in between forward and reverse.

All good now.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Mike
