Bling, Bling....

I'll get it. Oh, sorry, I thought it was the phone.

This was yesterday's project. I put in 80 weight shock oil, but it still needs to be heavier. Does anyone know if there's a heavier oil, or if I can mix silicone diff oil with shock oil. Since the shocks are at a short point of leverage, I really need to put a load on them to be effective.

Not a bad design/concept. The only major concern I can see is if the shocks are too stiff, they'll sheer the bumper mounts off. Otherwise, I think you're on to somethin there.

The oil controls the dampening, I think what you may need is heavier springs, or turn the spring preload spacers down some. What's it matter though, you ain't never gonna run that bling thing! LOL.

Ralph I can't help but say it again, that's a beautiful truck. But the best part is that it's innovative as well, not just all bolt on stuff, but it's also been "Ralphled" a lil bit.

Right now, the Wheelie wheels are 2" from the ground. The front tires raise 3 1/2 inches before the wheelies make ground contact. The shocks are Duratrax with CEN springs, and the pistons are 3 hole. I don't think 2 holes are available, so a thicker oil should do it. I also have extended screws in the bumpers, so I don't see a problem there.

Thank you so much, both for the insults (LMAO) and the compliments. I've had RC toys for many years, cars, planes, jets, helis and MTs. There's nothing I've gotten more involved in than this Savage. It's become a labor of love, and pretty soon I'll have nothing left to do but start it and run it.
Stick around, I might need help getting it tuned.

There's a little more bling added, but that's for later, once I get a few more things put back together.

Nice work Cooperdillon.

Wow I've got to say I've never seen shocks on a wheelie bar, Thats a great Idea.. was that a custom setup or designed to work that way?

LMFAO! Yeah, That's great!
His creations don't run, though. (Yeah, I know, go ahead. Say it.)

I still have the electronics tray all torn down since I'm about to add the Hitec HS 645 MG steering servo and the spectrum receiver.....But, here's the last of the bling I added during the tear down for the 3 speed.

WoodiE sent me some of this chrome braid for the fuel lines. I guess he thought it needed some flash.

While I had the TVPs off, I de-anodized that grayish brown color and polished them.

It started out as a stock adjustable wheelie bar, and I just kicked around a few ideas till I came up with what you see.

Actually, I wonder if you could get away with using a pair of RC12L shocks, or even some RC18 shocks, and bolt them so they're more laid-down. You'd get more strength, and the shocks should have just the right amount of leverage.

Since you have that wheelie bar in the back, the dual tank aluminum bracket for a second fuel tank would be perfect. I happen to have one along with a brand new tank for it. It mounts behind the rear shock tower using the lower 4 mounting holes to secure it.

Let me know if you are interested in it. I believe it came from New Era Models.

I wish to stress that the tank for it has never been used. I know this is important to you since neither has the rest of your rig.

HeartBreak, The pivot point on the frame is closer to the shock than the wheel, and if I moved the shock closer to the wheel, I would need to get longer shocks or the wheelie wheels would sit too high. I have the springs at maximum pre load right now, but it's really the dampening I need to allow the truck to come up, but meet with enough resistance from the dampening to keep it from rising too much, and the springs to push it back down.
It has the 3 speed in it now, so there's going to be some serious take off to deal with.

That's hysterical!!
I could use some pics, since I'm not familiar with that.
After it's break in, I'll be adding a different rear shock tower and the RD Logics dual pipe rear exhaust. If that setup hurts the performance, I might go with what you have.
Please wax it first chance you get, then post a pic.

Here is a pic of it installed on mine.

It consists of a machined aluminum bracket that supports the uprights for the tank.

In your application the setup works great because the ass end is protected by the roll bar.

DONE DEAL! I'm looking forward to adding it on.

By the way, I really like your choice of springs. Did you get that thing from the Easter Bunny?

Also, robmob, how effective is that anti-sway bar setup you have on it, and if it's good, where would I get it?

Good point, Rolex. Altho, the way you have it set up should work nicely. Now that I get to thinking about it, rc18 shocks probably would blow out on the first wheelie.

Where it is, and with all the contact and pivot points considered, there's no strain on any of the parts. Even the shocks won't take a slam where they are since the wheelie bar really has to rise a long way to bottom them out.
Before the shocks can bottom out, the frame for the wheels hits the ground. Right now I'm working out a center wheel to prevent that.

I destroyed both the front and rear sway bars the first time out bashing.
