My nitro star 15 fe engine wont start!

hey guys i have a nitro star 15 fe engine and it wont start, i tried to read other threads but i dontget it. I'm sure the glow plug isnt dead cause when i pulled it out and lit it with the igniter it made a hissing sound. I've used the same fuel all the time. it just ont start. Me and my dad used fishing line for the fly wheel cuz our string broke but evrything is going fine cuz when u crank it the transmission spins meaning it works. this is really annoying me.


i appreciate all the help u guys have given me so far, but plz help me resolve this one

The hissing sound would be oil burning on the coil. That doesn't mean the plug is good enough to ignite the fuel.
You need to see a bright orange glow, almost yellow. If you don't, then you either have a bad glow plug or your glow igniter is in serious need of a charge or a new battery.

your transmission shouldn't be spinning when you are trying to start your engine.

I'm starting to wonder if your clutch spring is shot.

Can you spin the clutchbell freely without engaging the transmission? It should be able to. If the transmission is engaging then I would check the clutch. You could have a broken clutch spring or your not properly shimmed. You also could have a worn out clutch bearing so check both of them.

lol I'm new tot his cuz my cuz gave me the car and he wants me to learn my self so.... where is the clutchbell LOL and do u have any places that can show me all theparts etc.?

What kind of rig is it in? Have you tried going to HPI's site? They have a lot of great information that will help.

I'm using this engine and whats on it for an example...

What has the teeth, is the clutch bell.

Under that clutch bell will have 2-4 shoes and a spring...

That spring should be in ONE piece and wrapped around the clutch shoes.

If the engine came with the car, it could be a few models.
