Its now the end of the year and its been a good one. In my life the beginning of a new year means only one thing, ITS INVENTORY TIME!!!!

I will be spending 10 hours a day for the next 2-3 days counting every single product I have in inventory. I have 2 retail stores and a warehouse full of stuff. I now also have an RC business to add into the mix. IT SUCKS!!!!!

I just don't understand....... We have to bulk up on product for the holidays retail season then just a week after that we have to account for AND PAY TAXES on all the inventory we have in stock on the last day of the year.

ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!!

I hear the sirens over the hill in the distance.

The waaaaaaaaabumlance is on it's way. :green-grin:

Ed think of it this way. You don't do a damn thing the rest of the year, so in 2-3 days you'll be done all your work for the whole year. Your ahead of the game man!

or worst then that you could be flat broke and then you wouldnt have to inventory crap...lol

Eddy I feel your pain...I just got done yesterday Doing the same thing...It took 6 people three 10 to 14 hour days to finish..
We started off bye breaking down the vendors. Then compiled all thoese lists to the master list...Then had a lot of missed things on the master.
That took 8 hours too track down...
Any way its done...On to the new year!

Good luck Eddy, Inventory sucks!!

I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore.

My sentiments exactly.....lazy dog....get off the couch and do your bit....you will back over there on the couch eating cheetos soon enough!!!

Day one down and out its 9:45 pm and I'm just getting home. Ill get to sleep in tomorrow then back at it again.

Eddy maybe we're doing it wrong. The site I built for my wife has an admin back end that tracks all inventory, and we use QuickBooks 2007 Retail Edition, between the two she has an exact count of inventory at any given time, all she has to do is tell it to display what's in stock and print it out, she has an exact inventory report down to the last item. Is this insufficient?

Sorry if there's a legalese I'm overlooking, I'm a programmer not a retailer. :D

Its not a matter of tracking inventory, its a matter of making sure what is truly in stock and what isnt. Once a list is printed its required to make a physical count of all products in inventory. Once that is done an inventory adjustment is made to reflect reality. Its never the same as the list. From there an on hand inventory cost calculated. It must be done in a particular way to make any kind of an audit go smoothly.

When I worked in retail and inventory came around I always just made up numbers. No one could figure out how I get my section done so fast.
