18tz is huge :D the 12tr looks like a midget next to it. can't wait to break it in
stable.webp

haha, is that your first on-road? If it is, it'll feel like a rocket.

BTW, you might wanna get some foams. That car won't stop very well with rubber tires.

its my second on road.
my first was a racer 2 with a nova/hpi .12
the brakes seem way to strong in the car
need to find a way to tone them down they are lke an on off switch

Yeah, that car is gonna be a rocket for you. 18Tz is one of the best engines on the market.

For the brakes, replace the stock spring on the brake linkage with about a centimeter of blue fuel tubing (the stiff kind). You may need to use some washers also. Put a little load on the tubing at idle.

man i can't even start the engine for a first time.... the one time i got it started the idle was off the wallso i stopped it to adjust idle... and well.... its not starting again.... and i have a HUGE blister on my index finger trying to get this thing off tdc

No prob. Also, a both slightly easier, but harder way to get it off of TDC, if you have a 12V bump starter, like the ones used on planes, that'll get you off TDC pretty quick.

It's sometimes a pain to use the screwdriver cuz sometimes grip isn't with the flathead when it's on the flywheel. Bump starters are a bitch to line up to the flywheel with the body on, but they do wonders. Also, they start engines better than a 1/10 starter box.

Hey kwong2001,

What is bump starter and how it different from a starter box?

Below is a picture of a bump starter. The black circular thingie is what goes on the flywheel and turns it to start the engine.

The red thing is just one big electric motor that runs off of a 12v battery. It's normally used to start airplane engines.

Thanks kwong2001.

This is what I suspected. I have one left from my helicopter. I need to check if it still working. Can I power it from my car buttery?

How do you use it to start the car engine? It has some kind of press switch on it.
I have a pull start AE .12 engine on my NTC3. Will I need to change something?
How the black circular thing called?

idled out one tank. once it started it stayed pretty strong and never loaded up. very nice

when the tank leaned out almost hit a wall from the speed it gained in like half a second and that was with the throttle on idle

The black thing is the bump starter itself.

There's a switch on the starter to turn it on. Basically, to start it, have the bump starter lined on the ground and lined up with the flywheel (going the proper direction), then turn the bump starter on, then slam the flywheel on it and it should start up right away. It's not as violent as it sounds

I think you can use a car battery, but i'm not absolutely sure. You might need some sort of fuse or some poop so you dont' blow the starter.

As long as you're using the right motor mount/flywheel combo, you shouldn't have any problems starting the car.

its to fast!! i was blipping probly 1/4 throttle today.... not controlable on the street

sorry to bother i bought the HPI ss .18 rs4 kit would foams help me and why iI has some really sticky feeling rubbers. I need some direction this is my first onroad and all

kwong what are the most durable foams you can get.... cause the ground I'm driving on is pretty rough

i think part of the understeer/erractic steering problem is that the serversaver/steering is crap in the kit....I'm thinking to replace that with aluminum

edit: anyone have a link to an aluminum steering rack/servosaver?
