My maxx isnt moving to much

hey i got this maxx and i would rev it up and go nowhere for a while then build up speed almost as if it is stuck in second and it doesn't shift so i am assuming it is stuck in second but how do i get it unstuck

you may have to remove the tranny and unjam the second gear cog .all it is ,is a small metal arm that flips out from centrifical force from the rpms andshifts it into second
there maybe something that came loose inside and jambed it ,there is a lot of different causes for it not to shift or shift way early ,
try turning the set screw lock wise till snug (do not over tighten)thne out 4 to 4 1/4 turns and see if it shifts or is not shifting too early
if it doesn't shiftand still seems doggythen ripper out and check it

btw:do not use any type of oil or grease inside the tmaxx tranny ,i always used powdered graphite in mine and everynow and then gave it a shot to keep things working good

Sounds more like it's stuck in first. Have you checked the slipper clutches' tightness? Tighten down the nut on the spur gear all the way, then back off 1/8th of a turn. Also, if the engine isn't getting up to RPM, it won't shift into 2nd.

It could be the reverse gear. Or the two speed.

mine was doing that right before it ate up the forward and primary drive gear. It made a small clicking/racheting noise for about 15 mintues and took awhile to get going and then the tranny finnally gave out and self destructed.

(use graphite on the stock plastic gears???)

yeah graphite ,if you use any type of lube then it will gum up your 2-speed and not shift at all

Yeah i figured out my problem the last person who was setting the shift point backed it out to far and it jammed in its hole sideways so i ripped apart the tranny and got it in there and tomorrow i will be setting the shift point hopeully
