Hi all,

Just purchased a Savage 25...picking it up tonight. Just wondering if their is anything that I need to know about? things to be carefull of etc.

Its my first MT, altho I've also got a buggy...and just sold my MTX2 to buy this (really regreting my user name now!!!) so not new to Nitro...just MT.

Can't wait to get this and start jumping!!!!

The newer kits should have the cam servo saver and 4 gear diffs done already. If not you will want to do those mods first. There is also the throttle/linkage mod here

https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17342

Eventually you may want to upgrade the steering servo to something with more torque (Hitec 645 is a popular upgrade), also investing in a good nimh receiver pack helps with run time and turning power.

Has anyone got any experience with the Truckzilla kit (the one with the .46 5hp engine)...cause that sounds insaine!!! Just wondering if it's worth the $$$ tho

Just can't wait for this thing to be mine so I can start bashing it!!!! A Friends got one and was great fun the little go I had.

Save your money, the .46 engine has a reputation to be a pain in the arse. Instead I would go for a set of Twisted Toys extended LCG TVPs and a nicer engine. There are MANY choices for big block engines these days, let us know your budget and we can give you some suggestions for something more powrful than the S-25.

Cheers.

Not really sure of budget...if its good enough I'll just save up for it. Guessing around $200 US tho I suppose...

The savage can take sooo much abuse, I've made a video of us doing our bashings.

I'm gonna post later

Congrats on the purchase. Savage is a hell of a basher! A lot of companys make upgrades for it. I thought the Truckzilla looked awesome too. Never saw many posts about it, and what I did was trouble.
The S-25 engine is an easy tuner. Not a racer, but dependable as hell. Run it like ya stole it!

Picked a good place to post. Hell of a group of guys. Help ya anyway they can. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the Savage.

Cheers  , Got a Kanai for my racing (well...park racing) so this should be the perfect companion to it...I perhaps wont give the buggy as much of a thrashing anymore!!! (hey...who am I kidding...I'll still do that to it).

Had my first play with it last night (got it 2nd hand, about 10 tanks thru it...well so he said, seems to be all good tho)...the guy didn't tell me about all the hopups he'd done. Its already got a S9402 futaba servo, after market exhaust (not sure what one, its chrome and ribbed) fuel protector, aftermarket springs, fail safe. It was to dark/then late to pull it apart much more last night, so I'll have to see what else has been done.

Going to go find some places to jump it etc today, plus try it over my jump for the buggy...backflips here I come :smoke: :smoke:

Thats a damn good video!! I like the buggy stuff at the start...and then the Savages climbing the tree's at the end...crackup!! going to have to try that out.

What engine was in the Savage doing the burnouts? I like!!!!!!

Stock HPI .25

It's a savage SS

UMMM... a lot of the guys here (me included) run 40 series (LARGER) tires and rims wider stance, better cornering, and looks way better

Do you have any pictures?

Just took it out for its first proper run...got it tuned nicely and broke my first part!!! the fuel protector only had 1 screw holding it in (didn't realise until after) and when I drove it off a 25-30ft cliff (damn that was fun...got a vid of it) the fuel pretector bent slightly and put a hole in the fuel tank....but have to say...if the other screw was in it nothing would have broken...and that was my plan...to test how far I could push it, and it kept coming back for more

If your looking for pics of the savage with 40 series tires on it.. i have a few.. They are as good as people say.. The smoother the course the more they hook up.. A neccesity for racing I think.

my wheels are the same as his white ones only i painted them metal flake green for difference. great wheels for racing and i have the cheyennes for bashing up the backyard track. the wabash racing rims are 1/2 inch narrower than the cheyennes which improves for tighter turns on the track. sick rims and tires. $72 shipped.

Those are some nice tires!!

Here's a small vid of my first go...its not of the crash (not sure if I wana put that on the net...didn't realise it looked so bad until I saw it)...its just a small short one, going to make a video next weekend with a mate and his savage, and prob throw in my buggy for good measure...if those servo's ever turn up!!!
