eh.. I'm not really a fan of electric. Nothing against 'em, they just don't do it for me. I think I'm addicted to the smell of nitro... I know there's a carpet track down in Akron somewhere but I'm not sure of any outdoor nitro ovals

Funny, I remember saying that too. But I got a lectric TC3 tourer to run as a second class with my NTC3 tourer, the end of last season. I think the lectric is more fun to drive! And from there its only a small bridge in the mind to oval.

Its a shame to not race a work of art like yours. :winnar:

I'll throw up a pic of the Gordon paint job in about a week that I have planned.

Just a little tease for you fellas....

well the #20 is no longer in my possesion and the #12 will not be either come tomorrow. They were intended as gifts and I'm stickin to that. I thought about getting an on-road but I really wanted to get into this buggy scene. So I can go learn a little about racing and bash with you guys when it comes time. Now I gotta come up with money for everything the kit doesn't come with... time to sell some stuff

Hi Lesson, Heres the finished pic of the Gordon body I did for a friend. He wanted to race it this weekend, so I got it done quicker than I was planning. Its all painted on.
Also, see my "liquid mask tutorial" thread I started for more pics.......

Yeah, that looks great dude! helluva good job! I found that clear plasticip aerosol works great as a mask. it's kinda hard to find, but it bonds really good, leaves a great line, and is extremely fast to apply. I just finished painting and trimming the #12. I just have to finish up a few details. I should be able to get the pics up sometime later this evening.

Did you get the Alltel Dodge finished, and how'd it turn out? You giving that one to a friend too? I don't mind painting for friends, as long as they race them, and I get to see them run. Last weekend there was only 6 in the electric touring class, and I had painted half of them <G>.

yes, just finished it today. I may or may not have the pics up tomorrow depending on my weekend plans. It was also for a friend (girlfriend to the guy I gave the #20 to). Neither of 'em are into R/C currently but I have a strong feeling that'l he'll be getting a car to put under that in the future. I gave her the #12 today. She's was really excited. He was totally stoked... especially cuz of the rookie paint scheme on the #20. I might be heading up to Motor City tomorrow for NAIAS, but I havn't made up my mind yet. Pics should definately be up by sometime Sunday.

Here's the rest. Due to the fairly complicated nature of a few of the window surrounds I decided not to use the window masks that came with the body. However I do NOT suggest doing it the way I did. The inside was already sprayed with plastidip, I thought I would just put the tape over it, but then you have to score the plastidip all around an that's just a PITA. On the next one I will reverse it. Tape then spray, then you can just score the clear anywhere within the tape and peel...much more efficient and should leave a better line. Oh well, learn a little more everytime..

Awesome body Lessen! She ought to like that. Is she a Ryan Newman fan, or just a Nascar fan in general? Good detail, its even got the wedge adjustment holes in the rear glass! hehe.

All it needs are the aluminum supports for the rear spoiler? <G>

yeah, she's a Newman fan. She was really caught off guard by it, that was cool. :)

hmm... rear spoiler supports eh?.. hmm. I'll have to keep that in mind when I do the #8 (not anytime soon)

thanks NC! Actually, I think overall the #20 was a bit nicer. There are strengths and weaknesses to both works but I've learned alot.. lots of fun.. too bad we gotta scrounge around for those decal kits. I enjoy doin these so much it's almost like a hobby within itself. oh btw, I looked for that decal set you mentioned when I was at my LHS last but didn't see it.. John Deere right? sorry, just thought I'd let ya know.

Thanks for looking anyway bud, I really appreciate that. Yeah it sucks we now have to scrounge for decals since slixx is no longer making them. I love doing the nascar bodies more than any other bodies. When I used to build a lot of 1/24 scale nascar models my favorite part was the bodies and paintjobs.

I just won a set of Dale Earnhardt 1999 Wrangler/Goodwrench decals off some new guy on flea bay making some different decals, other feedback of his says they are as nice or nicer than slixx. I guess I will see as soon as I get them. The blue and yellow Earnhardt wrangler cars have always been one of my favorites. The decals are for the car he ran in the 1999 Winston all star race at Lowes motor speedway. I am really looking forward to doing this one. Only thing is this guys decals dont come with window trim, or contingencies. You need to get a set of autographics or parma contingency decals, and paint the trim around the windows. If you use an hpi nascar body at least those come with the trim, and some detail decals. Anyways great job on both of those bodies!

Okay, Let me get this straight, You masked off the white right? Then with windows and your stripe masked off you sprayed the car with the orange, Took the mask off of only the stripe, then did the white coat, let it dry, then put a white coat over everything. Is that right?

Gosh guys... Ur gonna make me paint a body! hahaha. I'm going insane, Because I think it would be really fun to do just to be artistic.

Can anyone hook me up with a link for a great airbrush kit with compressor? keep in note that i live in a condo so i can't have anything gas or loud running b/c i dont have a storage space. Thanks

How do you get that blue on at first? I'm not getting that part.
