Looking to purchase a Baja finally and I have 2 options. I can purchase it online for 280 less due to a coupon and no sales tax at this time but have to claim it later on my taxes. Or I can purchase it from the LHS that always takes care of me, gets me the right parts and advice and always throws me 10% off on every purchase due to me only shopping there in town. So what would you guys do? I don't mind paying sales tax but I feel this is more like a moral dilemma. Any advice would be awesome and thanks in advance, Steve.

any new major spends on rigs and major parts I go to the lhs that has treated me good!! I make sure I go there when the owner is and I get discounts where he can here and there but come on I spent almost 1500 my first time walking in and the first two nitro's I rebuilt completly I didnt have the internet so needles to say I left an impression quick..

So yeah I would support the lhs cause if we bought everything online than there wouldnt be any lhs's around!!!! and where else can you get advise, brag and buy parts, and if they have a track try out the new parts and need to buy new parts all over again.. l.o.l... it's all good fun!!!

Did some numbers

If the hobby shop gives me my usual discount I would only save 120 or so after you figure in shipping. I can see giving the shop my business for that little difference.

I normally agree with buying local but my LHS never has what i need for parts and unless i catch them on the right day it takes just as long for them to get them in as it would if i order them. They also had a Flux HP in there that instead of going online i was going to pay more for to have it right then and they wouldnt sell it to me. So i went home and ordered it right after. Their loss, not mine

Make sure you check out davesdiscountmotors.com he is the biggest 1/5 distributor and has excellent prices. Use DDM at checkout and automatically get 5% off. Also he is including a rear Dom pipe with the buggy purchases. He does free ground shipping on your purchases.

go with your lhs bud I'm the same i always like to drop the big bucks there coz i no they look after me and there always giving me new stuff to try , although its cheaper online i still like to go in the shop pay abit extra have a chat and a coffee and normally an hour later I'm on the way home lol with some extra goodies and end up being cheaper because i always get discount ,

I Supported My LHS

I got the baja 5sc today and paid closer to full price than I wanted to but I took care of my lhs. I would've saved a lot more but I know the money I would've saved by going to towerhobbies I'll get back over the next invoices like they always save me. Now the next dilemma is going to be what do I upgrade next? I'll post later onboard it drives compared to my 8th and 10th scales.

I got the 5sc in black but I would've liked to had the red body but the black one will do. I did the break in as per the instructions and it went very smooth. I charged the supplied battery on my venom charger at 2.7 amps. The only thing I'm going to have to get used to is the long run times. Break in took 45 minutes plus to get done. Used to 15 min tanks on my nitros. I'm also running full synthetic klotz oil at 25 to 1 ratio.
