my car dies when it is half empty?

could be ur engine is running too hot.
In July, my sceadu 50 Heli had that problem. i posted a thread like urs, on a heli site. I got an aftermarket shroud that blows air over the 50 head. Problem solved. In fact i could lean the motor out more.
I'm not saying u need a shroud. I think you need to investigate how to cool ur motor a bit to stop it overheating.

I have just experienced this on my Savage 21. I thought at first it was the temperature/weather, because it started showing the same symptoms as yours when I was running my truck in 28 degree Fahrenheit temp. But I think I was able to fix it.
This is how - the stock fuel line from the tank to the carb seemed a tad too long in my mind. I therefore experimented in trimming it to just the right length. Also, if you have a fuel filter, don't use it when outside temp. is really cold, that's the part where the line slows down, at least from my experience.
Also, richen your high speed needled when your engine gets hot, this will help too.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the Richening of the HSN.
Progressively and inherintly with a large tank, your mill will run leaner and leaner as the fuel level drops. Thus the reason I tuned the Savage at half a tank. Starts off a hair rich with a full tank but doesn't get too lean when almost empty either.
