Just wondering.

Is it possible to change to another pair of AM crystals in the Traxxas TQ3 Tx, Rx. ?

I mean. Is the radiosystem tuned to the specific frequenzy my truck came with, or is it possible to buy lets say 2-3 extra pairs with different MHz just in case someone else is using "my" frequenzy?

It seems very easy to do the exchange.

Regards

u can switch the crystals out, that isnt a problem. the only things you cannot do are:
- use 75mhz crystals in a 27mhz system

- use FM crystals in an AM system.

do they make 75mhz AM? I guess all I know about AM is the poopy looking controllers come with them.

yes humboldt - most AM is 75mhz.

when i first started in RC - my streetforce, and my rc10gt rtr both had 75mhz AM controllers. as did my boat.

All our T-maxxes we ordered to Denmark came with different AM 27 MHz crystals only being 0.050 apart.

I'm looking into getting me either a

Futaba 3PDF-X 3-Channel FM

or

Airtronics MX-3 3-Channel FM

Can't really make up my mind. Cost almost the same.

Only wish I could have it send here without having it go through local customs. They add 25% to all incomming packages from a non EU country having a value of above $51 (€45) :arrr:

But thank you. Nice to know I'm able to get some of the ( is is 6 channels in total in the 27 MHz AM range) ?

:breakdown

 All I can say is try it. Wait a sec, let me get behind this building before you try it. :egad:

sasquatch - the AM crystals in your controller now, will not work with those radios. they are FM. just to clarify.

Yes I'm aware of that.

Just wanted to know if it were possible to switch frequency on the TQ3 controller untill I/we get another and better FM pistol controller.

Thanks :)

They will work, or at least should, as long as the 2 frequencies are the same for both the transmitter and the receiver.

ok now I am lost! How can a FM TX and RX use AM crystals? Are there no rules to the madness?

yeah - el pirata - i made that comment on an asumption based upon my limited electronic knowledge.

Are you saying that an AM crystal set can be used with an FM TX/RX ?

If so, that is really cool, and i didnt know that!

I have been told you cannot even use say Airtronics FM crystals in a FM JR radio so how can you use a AM Traxxas crystal in any FM TX? I just dont get it but my knowledge of electric is I know they can shock you, and all I know about radio is how to play mine.:trashed:

Hehehe just to get things right.

I will be buying AM crustals for my AM Traxxas TQ3 controller. I have now found out that the controller will take any of the 6 available frequencies in the 27 MHz AM band.

Later on I will be ordering a FM pistol controller..

You can't mix AM and FM.

Hopefully I did'nt cause any trouble.
