My brother is getting me the picco .26 for christmas. I'm just wondering what I HAVE to upgrade and what i should consider? What about gearing. I'm basically just bashing at local mx tracks. any part #'s or links would be very helpful. Thanx.

Upgraded driveline is essential. You will be breaking parts along the way. First I would recomend upgraded dogbones or cvd's, and also upgraded center drivelines. I just saw some trick looking cvds at my lhs, dynamite has some with cool little boots over the end to keep dirt out, slick. After that the truck should easily handle a 16t clutch bell, and might as well go for a 3 shoe clutch. Then, you will be striping wheels, pay as you go, insert more coins to continue. Its a blast, the motor is great, enjoy. Might want to throw in a spur gear or two, people seem to be eating them up too. Me, I have the rotostart on my picco and I have finally junked the one way bearing, that is MY next installment.

I was a little confused about what is needed to run the roto start on the picco. on the ofna site is says i need an adapter? any idea what they are talking about?

I sure do. the picco motor has a small spring that holds the one way bearing into the motor helping it stay connected to the the crankshaft. The rotostart does not provide a place for this spring to reside in a manner that it will stay put, this little adaptor they sell will allow you to keep the spring in place. Its very similar to a small thin nut that has the sam dimensions at the one way bearing hex head. I went to a hardware store and fab'd a spacer out of nylon. The adaptor is probably the best way to go but there is more than one way to skin a cat. NOTE, you will need to do something to address this spring issue if you plan to use the rotostart. And beware, the lifespan of the one way deteriorates with the use of the rotostart, did for me anyway, and from what I have read, mine has lasted longer than some..... even still, I love the electric start.

yeah I have a WASP 26 and they are the same.. just get an aluminum hex wheel hub for a 1/10th car.. just don't loose that spring

thanks. any more recommendations on needed mods. Any brand on the drive line the best? what about titainium i've seen mixed opinions. What gear raitos clutch and spur?

Picco 26s have a lot of compression, so it seems reasonable that the rotostart will beat up parts. If you warm the engine up with a hair dryer first it will be easier to turn over.

Well, some more mods for me are required. Today I'm out bashing with the picco powered savage and finally blew the rear diff. Raptor r u sure you want to run a trick motor? The savage .21 does need more power in stock form, but jeez this picco can tear up a truck! I have been postponing doing the four spider gear diff upgrade and looks like I can postpone no more. So, off to that Savage store for the goods, maybe santa will bring? So, Raptor, add the four spider diff upgrade to the list of things to consider. There are good write ups out there, I think one is at savage central, for the upgraded diffs. As far as what parts are best, I think budget has some input here. I went with cvd's, just cuz they are a better design, I have the hot bodies, but would try the dynamite ones if I had to do it again. Just upgraded dogbones would probably do fine and leave you with some extra loot for the other upgrades, like the diff I just blew up for example. You also might consider sticking with a stock size tire. I am running big joes and could reasonably assume that the extra traction has not helped with the weak links left in my Savage. I'm shelved till I can get the time to tear it down and order the parts. Current project is painting the home, got to take care of those appreciating assets too. Good luck and spend some time searching the forums, use the search feature here it works great, the guys in this site are awesome and have brought me up to speed real quick. I would personally stick with the plastic parts, cheaper and readily available at the LHS, AND the give some, dont just bend and stay bent. I have yet to upgrade to anything aluminum. I think some like the upgraded shock towers though. I just havent broken anything like that yet.... yet.

thanks unsavagable i foungd the spyder diff upgrade at savage central and was debating doing it. I geuss i will. I'm trying to find all mods nessesary now during christmas season so i can hit up the fam. Thanks for help all. any recommedations on clutch spur rations? are the robison any good?

haha I had to do that this past Thanks giving.. is was a little cold and my savage sat in my truck for a while.. took a heat gun... bamm started with ease... my friend didn't wanna use the heat gun and tried starting it in the cold with the engine cold... broke the one way.. and one ways on a Picco Outlaw or WASP are internal... that baby cost $26... but they are stronger than the external... but like any motor tryin start it cold is a bad idea
