tested the brakes out today and all i can say is wow, so much more linear then stock, my stock brakes were jumpy sorta and didnt do too well at stoping, these things will lock the wheels up in an instant if i have my epa too high, they didnt look like they wore any over the run justs ome lines in it but my stockers did that too first tank. and this ws7II is just screaming at temps of 210

hopefully mine will be here tomorrow. along with my aluminum fuel tank quick release posts i got from mbx5.com. i love this buggy and my RB that is strapped in it.

crzy-svg-usr, I saw your pics on the grid. I didn't know that was you. LOL That stuff looks hard to cut. Did you use a machine or something?

nope dremel and a 1/8 inch bit took 10 min to cut 4 disks. i ran em in the mud at HH track on sunday (bad idea) the brakes held up great no loss in braking at all no matter how much mud or water built up in em. too bad the mugen weighed 5 or 6 pounds more after a tank then it did before i whent lol

Just ordered those McMaster-Carr O-rings. Do you guys use them in all three diffs, or just the front, and/or center? I also want to modify that grove in the upper radio tray where the spur gear is so I can take the center diff out by just removing those 4 screws on the top plate. A dremel tool with a cuting wheel should take care of it OK I think, but should I do anything other that a little CA to keep it from splitting?

no need to dremel it jus pull center diff out evenly nto one side first then the other and it wont hit

I'm pretty sure mine hits. I think I tried it once, but you may be right. My buddies non prospec MBX-5's center diff comes right out. I'll let you know when the O-rings get here.

Actually I am 100% correct in my statement.....my statement applies to all cars MBX5 or not........I have driven around 4-5 MBX5 & 2 MBX5 Prospecs didn't like them that much so I stuck with the Kanai III. Either way my comment was spot on as the person right after you posted.

So in effect the "Dood" who doesn't have an MBX5 knows more about it then the dude with an MBX5........how funny is that?

Hypedonrc, I assume you got the ones I dropped the part number for? To warn you, I installed those o-rings the other day and they were a bitch to get in. I put them in front center and rear.

whats funny is the "dood" being a prick about it, instead of having the charicter to just say, "your welcome"

I've atcually read the thing about droop limiters on smooth tracks like a million times. I think Ashton has mentioned it more than a few times on the grid. I. however, race on rough bumpy tracks so I don't use droop limiters in that way. I just use them to protect my shocks.

The dood (aka Wheelie Boy) has a history of layin the BS down so thick you need waders to get through his posts. He's on my ignore list but when he bumped this thread I had to read it. I though maybe Losi gave him a free mbx5 in the sponsorship deal and it too does wheelies on command. I guess in my rage I forgot droop limiters have two purposes. I stand corrected.

RustlerDood, if you have something to add to this thread that deals with MBX5 buggies, but all means post away. If you want to continue this discussion or any other discussion not related to MBX5 buggies, please PM me or start a new thread in the appropriate area of the site.

On with the mbx5 thread...

Received the O-ring today. Hope to get to it this weekend, but we'll see.

anyone have any ideas on using the anti squat bushes to improve handling on bumpy tracks

not sure what you mean there Mike. i would think less anti-squat would be more stable on rough tracks. when you run a lot of anti-squat it tends to lock the suspension under power and can get pretty bouncy.

hmmm yeah thats sort of my theory as well but doesn't seem to be working, damn 777s are walking on us at the moment, and can't seem to keep my ass on the ground long enough to get any real handling, might as well just put 4x2s in and call it quits, any ideas on whats up corrado, running 250 oil or 25 by you guys in rear shocks full droop and no rebound stops, lowest anti squat
2.75 toe in on rear 3degrees camber, front is 300 oil, 1.8 toe out, 0 camber, full droop no rebound, grey springs all round, tried the blues but just to soft and bottom out all the time, any help appreciated
Thanks
Mike

what pistons are you using mike? for a rough track i use a piston with a larger hole then pick my oil accordingly. this reduces pack and encourages the suspension to work at speed. my xray right now i have 1.5mm pistons (largest) and 40wt front 30wt rear. and it seems to do very well in our whoops section.

also run about 2-3* camber up front. camber isnt just used for adjusting contact patch, a little bit will also help stablize the car in the rough. i would also reduce your toe out to zero and look for more steering in other ways.

what oils are you running? for a really rough track i would try 5k, 5k, 2-3k front, center, rear. this will also make the car more stable.
