does HPI make the mt2 18ss+ still. If so how does it compare to the
3.0 engine. Besides one being a kit vs. rtr. Before I buy tomarrow I want to any Mt2 owners opinions. Or go with something completly different around $350 to spend, is there going to be any thing new this year.
also the cvrx 18 compare to the 3.0 as a hop-up.

They discontinued the 18ss. I was going to buy another a couple of months ago and couldn't find one. That being said, there's not much need to go into the differences. You can however get the RTR and get the upgrades as you would like. I'm a big fan of the
MT2s so I think it's an excellent choice. As far as the OS mill, there's no comparrison. That engine will flat out kill either of the stock mills.

I have an 18ss and was thinking about dropping an OS 18TM I have sitting around in there. Yeah the kits are gone. They had a few upgraded parts but not a ton. The RTRs are pretty good too. There was not a ton of diffs. I like the tires on the new RTR better.

So what you are saying is the (os 18 cvrx) is the best practical motor for Mt2
other guys try to put the .18tz in and it just breaks the truck.
Well, I am just going to buy the mt2 3.0 rtr and drive it till the 3.0 bores me and put in the 18 cvrx along with alloy knuckles and rear diff case, cause my eyes and head hurt from weeks of rc research. I learned a lot though.
thank for the info.

I would say that is a good engine choice. I am not even sure if my 18TM is not a bit much. I know it hauled in the T-Maxx. Alloy nuckles and C-Hubs are a very good upgrade. That is what I break the most. The only thing my engine that is currently in it lacks is take off power. Once it gets some RPMs up it is has some power....just not off the line.

More Pick up from the start line? well, that comes down to clutch tuning, I.E spring rates, wether you can get shoes with adjustable engagement etc etc, at least, thats been my experience.

That is true a higher stall clutch would help but the engine lacking the torque is also an issue. But hey it is fun anyway because once it gets up and going it screams.

So in other words Joe, maybe look at fitting a tuned pipe specifically tuned for low end torque to help with the low bottem end engine torque and fit a high stall clutch ?

Yup that would do it for sure. I am going to eventually put my 18TM on there but it will take a bit of modding to do since it is a slide carb vs rotary. But that is simple to do so not big deal. I figure on using a Savage 3 shoe clutch and flywheel. It uses a Savage bell already so sounds like a plan. I will put it at oh...number 3 on my list of projects? So yeah it may never happen but I can talk about it....lol.
