You lucky guy! Looks like a nice kit. I hope to order this from Bruce also, got to get the OK from the war department(she always has better ideas for my xmas gift) anyway, have fun and use loctite on metal to metal connections. I built a Mugen mbx5 awhile ago and really enjoyed it, Mugen = Quality. Have fun

bout time you got another rc.. have fun man, and drive it like you stole it.

Nothing's gotta be more of a pain, the building the ball diff, getting those little freaking balls into place make's me wish there was a easier way.

If you aren't doing so already, you should do your build using a light colored towel on your work surface. This will keep the small parts from bouncing to who knows where if you drop one.

That's something i forgot to do,but i opened package's one at a time being very carefull and using the body to hold piece's that would get lost easy.

I like to line the work area with blue disposable shop towels before starting any type of build. If you spill glue or threadlock on it you can just toss it out. Pick up some akro bins, they are helpful to hold parts when your body isn't available.

Out of curiosity, does the mst-1 require a side exhaust or rear exhaust engine?

The mst-1 requires a rear exauhst,i grabbed some blue towels earlier, and I've double checked every bag,and thrown the bag's the I'm getting rid of in a box so that i can doulbe check before i do the final toss to space.

A set of walkmans or an Ipod, good lighting, and a pit towel works for me.
If you get mad or frustrated, walk away for a while.
If you don't have them, get a good set of RC tools (they make building a kit easier).
Finish one complete section before you quit for the day.

ah just put the peices together the way YOU think it should go ...instructions are just another way to instill conformaty, just look at the picture for referance... LOL

just messing around ...I'm jelious, have fun with it :)

I think my next thing is gonna be a kit. That looks like fun just to put together. Good luck with the build man, take your time and be patient. oh and have FUN!

When I put my kits together, I have the bigscreen on, a bottle of coke and munchies close at hand while working at the coffee table. I also have a large blanket that I snagged from an operating room proceedure tray at work. Be careful to not have your body against the edge of the towel or blanket when you change positions ... I did it and parts were everywhere! LOL.

Since then, I learned to use a pitpad that I picked up from the LHS. It has raised edges and is padded to help keep things rolling off and confined. Mine is from Vantage racing.

Here's a pic of it. Look closely and you can see the raised edges. They're about 3 inches wide and about 1/2 inch high. Also works great at the track at your pit table.

I just picked-up one of those Vantage Pads this week. Works great but I just wish it was about 6" bigger each way.

Yeah, same here. I just plop the car up on an empty spindle of cdr's and keep it off the pad.

Well so far I've manged to get all the cvd's built, the arm's halfway built, and the tranns built with the diff, downside is,mugen didn't give me everything i needed,I'm missing a nut for my brake, the importnant nut that allow's the brake to work, and the little e-clips,don't even get me started on those things, managed to loose almost all of them already from them shooting across the room, have yet to find any of the bloody things,Kinda wish mugen wouldn't of used them, bad design imo.Other than that, this is a pretty awesome truck, got lucky with Upgraded AL rear uprights and upgraded arms,Pretty sweet. Now i just have to debate wether i wanna deannodize the chassis and give it a shine,or leave it and wait till i pickup a new one.

Use a little grease on the E-clip to hold them to the front of the pin. A needle nose pliers works great to install them. Pushing on them with a flathead screwdriver will put a hole in your hand.

Make sure you don't put them on backwards.
If you look at the clip you will see its pressed out of a sheet of metal. It will be rounded and smooth on one side and sharp edges on the other. The smooth side will go against the parts such as an a-arm. If they are on backwards they will come off when the part moves.

I tried using needle nose plier's and it didn't workout too well, they are small enough that it's a pain, screwdriver was a bad idea,i realised that first hand,I tried grease and that didn't work well either. Thanks for telling me that i can put them on backwards,i didn't know there was a wrong way.lol back to the drawin board.

Well i picked up a ton of e clips yesterday so i could work on it,it's almost finshed, all i have to do now is install my front servo, put my shock's together, and put the battery box on.
