Ok, so I like my MS Air filter, but I dont like that damn neck. I always felt it was far too close to the spur gear, and after puttin in my new RRP gears, its even closer. I was cleanin up and tightin up screws on the Revo last weekend and I noticed the neck was REALLY close to the spur gear. As in ontop of it. Turns out the spur gear cut a real fine hole into the air filter that really, you can't even see a hole until you pull the neck 'straight' and it opens the hole up.

Well, that was enough reason to put the revo to rest - dont feel like buyin a new engine any time soon. Aside from maybe shoe-gooing the cut part of the neck, does anybody have a suggestion for a better/upgrade to the neck? Maybe that 1/8th scale style AF? (Or does that use the stocker neck) I dont want to spend another $30, so its either Shoe Goo, or back to stock setup.

- On a side note from that, the only other damage done to the truck is the right-rear lower arm is broken. Never would had known it but I saw a LINE on one of the cross-braces (most inner brace). Had to pry on the arm to see that it actually seperated. Couldn't tell on the track that it was damaged. That truck took a hell of a beatin, and thats all the damage its recieved? I'm gonna keep runnin it like that till the arm breaks completely - then I'll buy RPM arms for all 4 corners.

Dont know what to say about the filter but replace the arm ASAP.
Better to replace just the arm then have to replace god knows what when it rips off and takes another $50.00 worth of stuff with it.

You could just use the stock neck and mount it to the MS filter housing. I used Shoe Goo to mount mine, but you can also create a bigger hole in the MS filter housing and mount it that way.

Thats what I did and it worked great! After fitting the MS housing to the stock neck I sealed it with shoe goo to make sure it didn't leak.

Hi Mike,

There is a procedure in the Revo Resources section at the Top of this forum that gives a step by step way to convert the stock neck to fit the MS Filter. I am not ready to try that yet so I am going to figure out a way to use Ties to lift the filter up and back a bit...My filter is interefering with my rear break linkage a little and putting undo stress on the Servo...I don't need all that much space and the neck is not pinching if I "lift" it a bit...

Good Luck!

My MS necks did the same thing last weekend so I just went with the stock traxxas necks but measured the hole a very little bit smaller than stock filter so i could avoid the glue part. It works great.

I'll probably just use the stock neck w/ the MS air filter and shoe goe them up together. I'm a little disappointed in Motorsavers tho. They should have tested the product and seen this would be a problem, and adjusted. They put out a product with a pretty big design flaw, IMO.

Thanks guys!

Mike
