Shims are just like washers...use them to take up excess or create Extra space...the latter being harder to do but in Wannarunnem's case that's what he needs to do.........Some say a shim is not a metal material so they help reduce friction....I say washer / shim WhoTF cares if it gets the job done.....

if you shim to far out you wont have any play in the CB which is something you want...

i would just run it like it is.. worst thats going to happen is you may eat bearings a bit faster and may get shorter clutch life or maybe you wont... try it ..
i know one thing tho .. you do want some play in the CB..

the way its set up right now there is no play...I've messed with it a while today and decided to go ahead and bolt it the way it is..those little washers are so hard to find online....

The ofna shims just dont pan out...they are to thick....

The ones Plaidfish has described is what i need.

I may even back the screw out a hair to create play and just use locktite

you want to be able to spin it and see it not slow down from binding....if the bearings are new it will slow down from the grease packed in them.....You definately want play....I get mine to where they just sort of click.....but that's just being super anal....I'm picking stuff up today at LHS I'll try and remember to get the part number of the washers I used......Xdamxincx is right about running it like it is....mine actually is further in on my spur right now....I need to push mine out from behind the Flywheel...didn't realize it till after I mounted my clutch and didn't want to waste the springs.....actually I just wanted to run the damn thing and was being lazy...LOL.....

That would be great..i appreciate it!!!!

This soinds like something I need for the Storm. The CB won't spin and the person that shimmed used thes thick ass washers and the CB won't spin and all I see happening is a worn bearing or two and a worn CB. I am going to look for these now.

between the Kyosho shims, the OFNA kit and the racers edge washers you have shims to do every type of bearing race support or whatever.....I keep these stocked in my box pretty regularly but I've been giving a little too much lately.....kindness can cost sometimes...I just hope when I need it at the track people remember me......

I saw an Ofna Shim kit 10099 I think and I am not sure if that will do both inner and outer shim problems. Anyone know?

that and the kyosho set are probably what you want......the racers edge set is really for extending the shaft going through the inside race of a bearing so you can relieve the pressure from your mounting screw off the center race......

I am going to pick up a set then. Don't have a Kyosho number so if anyone has or know it let me know. Going to LHS tonite.

Plaidfish were you able to get the racers edge part # from your HS?

No but I found something that works better...it comes in the OFNA kit...those long tubes w/ the flange at the end....file it to how long you need it to go into the bearing and then add washers to that shaft if there's any sticking out......he said he can't get the little washers anymore but then said they should have some more coming soon????? I dunno what that's supposed to mean...anyway if you have the OFNA shim kit it does have something you can use...and it's actually what it was meant for.....

Yeah, thats what i thought those were for! I have no use for them, since i had the perfect amount of shaft left for the cb!!!
