I have shimmed all that i can with what i have and the CB is as forward as i can get it. Do you think this will run without stripping the CB?

I have shimmed behind the collet using (2) 7mm ID washers. Logic would tell me to add a few more behind the collet to push the whole assembly forward. It wont work because when done the outter CB bearing passes up the screw shaft and that makes the screw tighten up against the bearing.

What do you think?....

Distance wise it looks fine but how is the mesh? Is it too far apart but just making contact? If so I would move it.

the mesh is fine....I'm just not sure the CB is catching enough of the spur. The only thing i can thing of is cut the mounts so the whole motor will slide toward the front of the buggy. I hoping for a shim solution rather than cutting the mounts.

Any ideas?

At that angle I am not sure but I think you should be fine. Can you snap a pic of the set up from the front?

yeah i can take the pic...will have to be in the morning tho.

get the racers edge small washers that fit inside the bearing race and build up the dead space then put a regular washer on before the screw...I do it to mine all the time and it works good....

i dont know about you but on my buggy the engine would keep twisting on me. on the mounts... I had to re-threadlock the and really reef on them to get them right... something to consider.

Yeah!!! thats exactly what i need.....So the washers your referring to will install on the outside of the clutch bell or will they install on inside of the CB?

Thanks!!

no racers edge makes thes washers that are made for the 3mm screws but the outer diameter is small enough to fit inthe bearinginner race.....the washers are the same dimensions as the crank shaft end.....stack enough of then up and you will effectively extend the shaft length...then when you tighten down the screw at the end of the shaft to hold it all in place you won't be clamping down on the bearing race making it bind and not spin freely....

it looks like its far enough out.. it seems that the whole spur is touching the cb.. bring it buy and let me look.. i got a bunch of those washers.. (bought the ofna shim set thanks plaid) so if you need a few let me know..

Thats gonna work!!! I've looked and i can't find them on their site. I've found every other washer except for the one you mentioned. Would you happen to have a link?

HHmmm..I have that same kit and all those washers are to big. What I'm looking for is a 3mm ID and 5MM OD...(I need several) Some were close to that. The closest one in that kit..well..at least mine is about 2x the size that i need. Its gotta fit on the inside of a 5mX10m bearing.

I don't have the part number or a link I pick em up at my LHS whne I need em....I'm going by there at lunch...I'll try and remember to get a part number for you....

TheOFNA shim kit should work. They make one specifically for buggy motors. I just had to shim my V-Spec this week and all the washers in the OFNA kit fit perfectly.

it doesn't have the ones he needs in it....he needs 3mm ID.....5mm OD.....they are not common....the ofna kit might have 2 or 3.....he needs the OFNA kit for behind the flywheel an dthe CB...the racers edge for the gap he'll have inside the bearing race......I may not be a pro tuning machine w/ the mills but all my Diffs/tranny/CBs/and all the gear and drivetrain parts on my stuff are so close you need a gnats ass to squeeze in there...and it all spins smooth.....

Plaid if you can pick up several that would be great....I will paypal you whatever the cost will be.

they were out of them when I went today.....and the mngr wasn't there...he's the one that showed em to me....the other people working today weren't even awake when I went in.....

dern.....thanks for looking. I will call racers edge in a few.

hmmm well...i just called and the guy said he couldnt find anything like that. He did mention that he thought kyosho made a shim kit and it may contain what i need.......

well..its back to google :hammer:

the Kyosho one is for shimming the shaft...like if you want to move the CB out from the Flywheel.....the Ofna kit has all kinds of those as well...I usually buy one Ofna Kit for the wider flanged washers 1 kyosho kit (comes w/ 3 diff thickness of shims) and 2 racers edge washer packs, if you call them shims I guess some people are just friggin clueless and don't seem to think a washer can also be used to shim something....what's the difference anyway....round flat piece of metal and has a hole in the center......
