I am getting a Mountain Bike in about a month know I have to do research on them and I was wonderng if their are a any MBer's here, I have my sights on this Specialized cause I really like it and I am a big fan of their BMX bikes. this is also my around my $$$ Limit. http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=9344 it is the Hardrock Sport Disk. I you know of any other bikes that I can take a look at I would appricete it. Plus i have seen a few of them and they seem pretty solid on a rock courses

we have a sweet rock down hill course out in the middle of now were. I already have my pads and full head coverage helmet.

Link wont work for me.. I would not suggest bikes with shocks in the rear. When trying to pedal, the bike moves up and down and makes it a lot harder to pedal...

I have a K2 Razorback 3.0 that I got a few years back. It has been rock solid and has endured a ton of abuse. The rear shock can be locked out so that bobbing while pedaling is a non issue.

That is a nice bike I will be looking at that one, i know that a rear shock is nice but i spend most of my time standing and climbing.and I have not found a good biike that is in my price range $500 or less and has that ability to lock the rear shock.

I have that exact bike(Hardrock), excpet it doesn't have the disk brakes. I love the bike, its a great all around bike. Damn light too comparing to older bikes I've had.

um what bike are we looking for??????????
If you took the time to read...., you would know that he was looking for the "Hardrock Sport Disk", as stated in the opening post...

Looks like a nice line of bikes..
I remember my BMX days. Anyone remember the PK Ripper frames? lol

PK RIpper??? My old roomate is in Brooklyn still rides one......You remember DG??? I raced for them for 2 seasons when I was a little kid.....my first sponsor (ace bikes) hooked me up w/ them.....I heard they remade a PK ripper w/ the beefire dropouts a few years ago...tried to make a comeback or something.....

PK Ripper. i wanted one of those when i raced as a kid.
I rode Redline frames
I have a dual shock bike now and the bounce while pedaling took a bit to get used to, but I dont mind it now.

I have a single shock on my bike, Its not a moutain bike, but I like it..hehe

(Built this from ground up. Original Schwinn Orange Crate 61' frame)

I always wanted a PK Ripper. The company's owned by one of the chinese mass manufacturers, know.

I've a got a 99 Supercross. It still has the old style sub stay rear end, and it was the last year they put their original dropout design on it. Their new frames are pretty generic looking.

I never much cared for mountain bikes. They always felt weird to pedal, and I prefer something smaller.

that bike a nice one. I have the hardrock comp (one grade higher) and I love it. That thing can take a beating.

BTW: I bought mine from a bike shop for $300 Brand New!

Talk 'em down

Yeah that's good advice, now is the time of year to buy a bike, most stores are trying to unload bikes that are 1-2 model years old. I know my lbs just had a sale and they had quite a few "make an offer" bikes. PK Ripper, man does that bring back memories! How about Haro, anyone have one of those?

Damn, it sure does bring back memories... I used to race at a track by me, thats still goin.. Shoreham BMX track. I had a few nice bikes back then.
PK Ripper
Mongoose
Redline
GT Pro
Haro for the freestyle events...
3 peice cranks
Akai rims
DK necks
BearTrap pedals, I still have scars...
Mushroom grips... lol
Remember the Skyway rims ?? Unbreakable my ass...
The poop we used to do... lol
I dont think I could walk up some of the ramps we jumped...
I'll never forget, a good friend of mine had a good 12' quarter pipe in his driveway, alongside his house. We would be gettin major air all day long.. Well, one afternoon, my bud shot up this thing, got roughly 3ft above the platform, turned the bike around, and slammed a rear footpeg into the side of his house. Needless to say, the bike stayed put, hanging from his house. He layed at the bottom with 2 broken wrists a wicked road rash on his chin... lol
I laughed for weeks bro... couldn't help it... One of the funniest things I've ever seen... :)

Sorry for the derailment.... Ahhh, old times...

Well, to climb aboard the "way-back" train, I remember having a light blue Mongoose with the white mag wheels. Can't remember the exact model Mongoose, but I remember I was the poop until by friend up the street got is Redline!

Good times, good times!

I am looking at getting a new mountain bike also. I am getting too old and outta shape to keep riding my dirt jumping bike so I am gonna sell it and get a mountain bike. I got a Robinson Ruckus dirt jumping bike with profile 3 piece cranks 48 spoke wheels GT piston stem and I don't even remember what else it has.

you know what's a damn shame? schwinn, mongoose, and GT. Owned by pacific, and placed in walmart and target.

At one time, those brands were good.
