If you can find a r/c that doesn't break let me know. As for reliability, nearly all newer makes seem to be decent quality. What you want to look for is parts availability at your local hobby store for the vehicle that fits your needs. That is always a big selling point for people, having spare parts available with a simple trip to the local hobby shop as opposed to waiting on parts to ship from the internet orders. What it comes down to really is your skill and ability to replace broken parts, no matter how careful you are it will happen eventually.
That said, I like my T-Maxx 2.5 a lot. It is a great learner, has many upgrades available, and is relatively easy to repair and upgrade. The three local hobby shops stock both stock and aftermarket parts for it, and given my area's terrain it can go basically anywhere I want to take it. It's really just a personal choice.
So far, I really like the T-Maxx for parts availability. I like the Savage (Though I don't own one) for its reputation as being very tough out of the box. There are others out there, but those are the two main MT's I hear a lot about from others. Hope this helps.
