ok so yesterday the savage (4.6 btw) was running fine...today my stepson tried to take it for a spin and he said it wouldn't start...
after i looked at it i came to the conclusion that the starter wasn't turning the engine so i too it off and the plate under it and i see the little pin in the bottom of the rod was kinda stuck down so i took it out and looked at everything and put the pin back in and it stayed at the right spot....put it back together and it seemed to be working fine...until i tried to start it...it got stuck very quickly...so my question is what is causing it to stick like that...any ideas guys..

Is your motor the F4.6?

The pin you are speaking of, does it fit into the back of the crank? If it does you will want to check and see if the spring that is behind that pin is functioning as it should; sometimes they break.

ok yea thats kinda what i thought....thanks..ill let you know how it goes..

wait...is there a f4.6 and a 4.6....if so i think mine is just a 4.6...would it still be the same issue...and if so is the part number 1433 for the spring and pin for a reg 4.6:)

There is a K4.6 that has an internal OWB, and then you have the F4.6 with the external OWB.

Definately check the spring that is behind that pin.

ok i have the k4.6....i looked earlier when i had it appart...honeslty i couldn't see that the spring was broke but i didn't try to take the spring out...just the pin...ill tear it apart tomorrow and check it better....

Go to the first link, this is the engine break down for the K4.6; look at exploded view #7. On this page you will see the back of the motor and what the OWB looks like, if yours is like this then you know what kind of 4.6 you have.
The second link will be for the F4.6, on exploded view #7 you will see the small spring and pin.

At least you will have a manual with all the part numbers, which ever motor is yours. But I think you have the F..
