Hello everybody, happy Holidays. So I got me a Mojave grom, everybody seems to love theirs. I tested it yesterday at a park with packed dirt, all it did was to slide around. The problem is, and I know these are different beasts, I also ran my hbx 3100a and it was so much better.
The tires on the Mojave seem to be a bit too hard plus the amount of dirt that gets into the body is insane!
Am I doing this wrong? I’m gonna be honest but I seriously thinking about returning it. And for the record I considered a latrax prerunner first but I got convinced at the store this one was better. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think any fast, small scale RC is going to struggle a bit on that terrain. Vent the tires and soften the shock fluid and lighten the pre-load if you can. I don't have a Grom, but I have a couple 12th scale 4wd buggies and an 18th scale 4wd buggy that is just ballistic. They all struggle in loose gravel over packed dirt. It's just donut after donut if you drive it aggressively. That's where you really gotta learn less is more with the throttle and steering. Smaller scale requires more precise movements on the Tx. But lightening the suspension helped ours quite a bit.

My problem is…it’s just too damn pretty so I’d hate to scratch it. I’m trying too hard to like it and after my 3100a bossing all over the dirt parking I had trouble with the Mojave.
Plus! The amount of dirt that gets inside is crazy!
For some reason the latrax stuff has worked better for me. I might still get the prerruner.
I’m screwed because I ran it and now I can’t return it.
Sorry, I don’t mean to sound like a hater

I don't run my Grom's in any area that has small gravel or lots of rocks, I learned that with my Granite Grom. Kept locking up when I got pebbles jammed in it. Smooth hardpacked dirt or concrete work best.

I got the latrax prerunner today, I’m crazy but I like it a ton.
I will sell the Mojave locally. 😔
I just can’t like it.

Sometimes it happens, that's why variety is good. Not everybody likes the same thing. :thumbs-up:

Well, after much soul searching I decided to keep and upgrade my Mojave grom, I was pleasantly surprised…so easy to work on. I decided to add a fan to the heatsink and that should keep it cool. Not in the pics a set of aluminium shocks, I installed the stock to my prerunner.
I’m still waiting on a skid plate kit to protect the body.

The Arrma grom series is very intriguing to me. Maybe a great one for a small no-frills backyard race series :)
I blame the youtube reviews lol. People want to bash them like 1/10 scale cars and from that point of view, of course it sucks, I also blame myself for believing them . I will run it soon and I’ll see how I like it after the upgrades. My local shop has the new proline tires for it, I’ll pick them up this weekend.

Well, I’m a believer. After the upgrades I took it to the park today and I’m not sure if it’s the weight from the slid plates, this thing handles like a dream!! It really sits low during sharp turns but even when it rolls it almost always lands on its belly.

Hello all! Long time R/C fan here, loved racing at different periods of my life but now I live in sort of a remote area in Panama. I don't think I have ever even seen someone driving anything here. It seems like I'm not the only one who wants to get connected with others to get together for a rip session or something but I feel like it's realistically hard for people to physically meet up and drive. Lot's of us out in the world with the same passion but with distance, scheduling and everything it's just a little bit of a tricky thing to share with others.

So I have an idea that I want to share with you all and lets keep this open for suggestions or just tell me you think it's a silly idea..

Consistency Challenge! The idea is simple:

  • Pick a track or even a spot in your backyard or local park.
  • Set up a small course with cones, chalk, or whatever works for you.
  • Time yourself for 10 laps and see how close your lap times are to each other.
  • Post your best results in the forum to share with others!
This isn’t about having the fastest car or the most technical track—it’s all about having fun and improving your driving consistency. Whether you’re bashing or practicing for a big race, everyone can join in!

Don’t have a fancy track? No problem! Use a flat dirt patch, a parking lot, or even a backyard track you design yourself. You can use a stopwatch, a timing app, or even just count seconds out loud. This is all about having fun and sharing your progress with the community.

Also, we could have stunt challenges or whatever people come up with, I just thought it could be fun to try and collaborate with each other on what we actually do with these cars. I am just so happy to get back behind the wheel. Picked up a Typhon Grom for my Christmas present and love building tracks in my backyard and timing them with a free video feed stopwatch app I found. Even if it isn't real racing it's pretty fun!

Let me know what you guys think!
