I've had my t-maxxes for only a couple months and it seems the batteries in the EZ starter dont last long at all. Also I hate the way that it will completely shut of if the motor becomes loaded. I'm sure this is a safety thing going on but i have a notion to modify the board so that it will continue to crank no matter what. I am assuming that the shut off device is in the starter stick itself? I like the idea that Traxxas came up with but i dont like the way it works totally. I also am not a big fan of pull starting. blisters take forever to heal. I know i know sissy boy right? The EZ starter is very handy to operate but i think I am going to try some experimenting. any of you other guys tried this?

it doesn't seem like there is anyway to start it with a cordless drill like i have seen on other models. the position of the motor on the T-maxx doesn't seem to allow it

the protection is there for a reason, honestly, id leave it alone, Hydrolocking an engine sucks, try n force it and could break your connecting rod. Just get a new battery.

If you have to pull-start it so much that it gives you blisters, you've got more to worry about than just that. Your engine is WAY out of tune. A proper tune will only give you some trouble when it's cold and even then will only take a few pulls to start.

If you want to drill start it, I would recommend the Sullivan Tiger Drive.

I think they make a roto-start back plate for your motor. You would just need to use a glow igniter, and it would lighten the load signicantly.

Man that's gotta be a serious roto start system, twin 540's with twin 7.2 volt packs. Wonder if it has NAWZZZ lol

You can actually have the Tiger Drive pointing through the right wheel well and you have access that way.

And Charlie, to me it sounds like a good way to break a con rod lol

the battery runs out fast if you're using teh blue wire to start the glow plug still....most people take it off and use and ignitor separately.....and getting a better battery pack will help alot too.....

pull start is the only way to go. less weight and I think you get a better idea of how your tuned when starting. Generally two to three pulls cold on my OS .21 MAX TM abd she fires up

:goodpost: +1 on that. If you're having trouble starting with a pull start then it's out of tune.

With my EX Start and a midgrade battery, with the blue wire hooked up and everything, I've bashed all day two days in a row and not had a problem. And that's only with a 2000 mah battery. Go on ebay and get a 3300 mah nimh Venom battery for 20 bucks. If the EZ start is cutting off it's because you are way out of tune. I've never flooded an engine to the point of it locking up. The EZ start cuts off for a reason.
