I'm looking for any insight on how to tune and gear my stock 3.0 for hill climbing?? Anyone have any ideas??

Also looking for a better tire and rim setup to accomplish some wicked climbs... Looks like my main areas of bashing will be on either grass or straight up sand... Has anyone setup any desert paddle/sand tires?

from my noob understanding of the nitro engine, i look at it like a tiny two stroke that runs on airplane fuel, is like a two stroke dirt bike. plenty of horsepower but little low end torque that would be required for hill climbing. you would have to be almost WOT before you started up the hill. and even at that its gonna slow down. its a shame that they dont make a tiny four stroke engine for rc application. lol.

You can get a little 4 stroke for rc's. They lack top end, but produce a ton of low end. If you wanna hill climb, gear down and add a locker to the rear. Set the suspension as low as you can with out sacrificing too much ground clearance. Bottoming out won't help much. A locker, on high traction surfaces, will kill handling and add a lot of stress to the driveline.

Best way to do it would be to gear down a good bit. I would say 2 maybe even 3 teeth on the bell gear to give you more low end power. There is no silver bullet on the tires sadly...for sand...paddles are a boat load of fun and are the way to go. I used the Sand Paw tires on a Jato....rooster tails forever!!! In grass....something like Pro-line Dirt-Paw or Speed-paw would work pretty good.

Well- it bashed till it broke! Almost stock config on my MMGT 3.0, and it's looking that I broke something in the transmission. The only change from stock is a 13/17 bell gear, plenty of torque- but after running it in reverse to get out of a jam- on a hillside- the truck is no longer engaging any power through the transmission. I havent taken it apart to diagnose further- but when I give it throttle- the engine power isnt engaging to the wheels- unsure as of now what component is at fault- Clutch, Transmission, driveshaft... unsure. Has anyone else had any problems like this? thanks!

for rims/tires, go ith heavier in the front, lighter in the rear. help keep those front tires down and pulling.
