Starting work on a Single servo plate.
Here is a mock drawing, I want it to be a part of the top plate right above the front diffs.

Any input on why this might work or not work will help.

Just an update:
I'm getting a MLST top chassis plate today to cut the front part off. I just got the Servo Mount Plate yesterday and I can see some modifications I have to make.
Because the front of the chassis is going to be cut off the connection to the front secton and the chassis will be weekend (two screws that hold the front end to the chassis will be cut off) so I think I need to extend the plate on the sides so it can be screwed down maybe using the gear cover holes. This will take the place of the connection that was cut off.

There is barely enough room for the servo saver I can't tell for sure till I actually cut chassis and put the servo on to see if it fits. I will also need to move the servo a tad back not to much or I'll hit the slipper.

Are there any ideas on a clean easy steering connection to the servosaver

I've had a few mini LSTs before. searched for along time and seen that people would put 1/10 scale servos on there MLSTs. i never had the time a patience to go that far cuz 2 HS-55 or 65's fit right in there place for about the same price.

do a google search for servo mods for the mini LST. thats how i got all my info.

I was looking at the Kimbrough Servo Saver Any one know the diffrence between small Medium and large?
Is the whole servosaver that is smaller or just the whole that attaches to the servo. And will anysize fit a standard size 1:10 scale servo?

I believe it changes the size of the whole servo-saver, not the hole. You need to make sure you get the servo-saver for the right brand of servo. They make separate ones for each type of servo, like Futaba, Airtronics, HiTec, etc. I believe they also sell the kind where it comes with adapters for it to fit any servo, but not sure of the size of the whole servo-saver.

Oh boy.. I want the smallest out there.. to fit the custom plate I made... Hmmm could get expensive..

Ok here is what I got so far.

The Single Servo Plate still needs to be modified a little and cleaned up. I still needed to cut the chassis but the plate is made to work with the current screw holes in the chassis. Less moding the better. Now I need to get the steering working.

Just an Update:
The plate has been modified yet again.. lol
I realized that depending on how you want to do this mod
you need to be able to put the servo as far forward or near to the Center Diff as possible.
hopefully the new plate design will accommodate the different ways a person can do this mod.
Will post pics soon..

Ok.. The Single Servo Plate Is Done but I have yet to finish the mod...
Here are some pics of the new servo plate.

If anyone is intrested in trying this single servo plate out.. PM me cost will be $15.00
It's solid aluminum the mounting holes match up to the screw holes in the chassis so no drilling.
Of course there will be some cutting an moding. Not for a novice to try.

I havent finished this mod to busy right now with work and kids but if anyone out there would like to give it a try
and post your findings.. let me know.

When I get a chance to finish it I will post some pics.

when you say there will be some cutting involved what do you mean? if you have one that will bolt rite in place i'll buy 2 today...

When I say cutting I mean you will have to cut the front of the top chassis to allow the servo saver to pass through it. see image below.
Left is cut right is not cut. The cut is rough I did it with a little saw and not the dremel to see how easy it was to cut with out a dremel.. and it was fairly easy to cut with the saw.

The plate will fit perfect. The holes match up with the servo mounted on more to the left side. see pic below. Some reason when I turn the plate over to mount the servo on the right side the holes dont match. but it's fine if match perfect on the left side.
(Oh when installed servo horn or servo saver will be centered to chassis)

I wish I had time to finish this mod up but I'm offering it to see if someone would like to give it a try and let us know or me know what problems or good things about the plate. How difficult or easy the mod is. And maybe if there are little kinks work it out and let us know.

If no one wants to give it a shot I will work on it when I have the time and post my findings.

If your looking for something really simple dont get this plate, there is still some figureing out to do.

But if you like working on your MLST and want a cheap single servo mod this SSPlate might be your answer.

Oh the you wont have to cut anything on the Single Servo Plate (SSP for short) hope I answered your questions. Let me know if you got anymore..

If do want to give it a try just buy one and see how you like it. Or wait till I finish the mod or till someone else does the mod with this plate. and post their findings and you can decide then if it's what you want. I realy dont want to sell you something you wont be happy with.

But I was thinking $15.00 bucks isnt to expensive. Especially if you like working on your MLST. And considering the price of the Exotek.
I'm planning to sell this outside of the forum for $20.00.

It's $15.00 for anyone on this forum to thank you all for the tips and help making the mod.

ok, so you're saying i need to cut my original plate so that the servo will fit through it ? your plate goes ontop of the original plate? if i'm correct, i have 2 lst2s, one of my lst2's is already cut there for a gear from buying the other single 540 plate from you. i got a dremal out and cut a hole in the chassis for a bigger spur gear,

i'm still a little confused though, why does the plate on the right have a vertial notch at the top and not the one on the left

Nice you put a bigger spur gear what size and what pinion gear you using?

As for the vertical notch, I was planning on having 4 holes on the ssplate to match the 4 holes on the chassis for mounting. However the servo covered up one of the holes so I decided on three holes, but now I'm thinking of removing the third vertical notch. So there will only be two holes to mount the SSplate on the chassis.

Not counting the 4 holes that mount over the front diffs.

i believe it's a traxxas 55tooth spur, but please don't hold me up to this and tell anyone else, i baught it at the hobbystore didn't look at the package to see how many tooth i rather checked it to see if it would fit on the tranny/differential shaft. and it needed some sanding inside, so i bored the inside of the spur out a little bit, not much. "the slipper doesn't work" but i haven't finished it yet, i'm waiting on a order from the hobby store, but i think i'm going to need a smaller spur....

the pinion is a 18tooth i believe, but i hve room for a bigger if needed but not much bigger lol

check your paypal.

i don't know how this setup is going to run, this chassis i have i baught from the hobbystore used, only the chassis. and i'm building it.

I checked paypal will send out today or tomorrow morning..

bored out the inside of a spur and also cut the plate already where u are talking about cutting it for the servo so the spur would fit in the chassis, i'll take pictures in the next couple days. the gear barely missed the driveshaft by 1/8th inch but it misses lol, however i think it's gonna be geared "WAY" to low.
