I'm wanting to know if anybody here knows where I can find a shootout or something of such on the 18th scale nitros out. There is quite a few out now from what I see. There is the IRC vulcan,Chaos,Team VTX that I like from the looks and there is one out I think I saw from Acme maybe.
Basically I'm trying to get the other half into the rc's and she said she would like to have a nitro mini. I want something thats of course very bash worthy and can take some abuse. (her first rc) and easy to tune.
Like I said earlier I like the team VTX but cand find much on it.
If anybody knows about them maybe help me out on what one is the way to go.
Thanks guys(and gals)

You might want to look into the Kyosho Half-8. It's a mini, I believe it's 1/12th scale or so. I dunno how tough it is, bash-wise, but parts would be a LOT easier to get.

I have not saw that one yet. But I will look into it though. Thanks for pointing that one out bud.

Not a problem. It actually looks like a pretty potent little performer. I've thought about picking one up, just for a mini-basher. But since I have the 18B, it kinda defeats that purpose.... I wonder if I could wedge a .09 into an 18B... hmmmmmm......

edit; here's the link for the Kyosho: http://www.kyosho.com/eng/fun/special/miniinferno09/index.html

Thanks for the link. And it looks pretty impressive. Going to have to check out the price on this. Might be up there a little bit for a mini considering it has the sirio engine.

If the car is only for your other half, you might consider getting her an electric mini and dropping in a brushless system. Less hassle and mess of having to tune the engine and they run just as fast or faster than nitro.

She wants a nitro and says my trucks are too big for her so wants a mini. I'm looking towards this acme nb16.. there is just quite a few out there.
I dont have anything for electric any more. I have not had anything electric for quite some time. I think the only way I would get back into electric is get another clodzilla or custom crawler. They are just out of the budget now.

what about a 10th scale like the hpi nitro mt2? its not as big as say a savage, but will stand up to grass, hills, and stuff better then a 18th.

Had a mt2 nitro customized and liked it a lot. Handled great. Low profile and
4wd it was a great truck. You brought back some memories Beason. Had a ramp that the kids had for bmx and skateboards I use to have a blast with the mt2.
I want a 18th scale. Have had 10th and 8th for lot of years. If I can get her into it because they are"cute" It will be done. Of course It would be hers and I would not be able to run it. "yea right".
You all know its in the eye of the beholder. And I told her we can get a whole heard of minies for one of my trucks. But you can't get rid of a beamer for a couple of cute pintos.
I think If I get one I will have to get a breader with papers.:celebrate2:

I'm a machinist. I set up and run acmes. 8 and 6 spindles. So me being what I do for a living I would have to go with the acme.
Even though I like the team vtx. I have to get her the acme. (said from her)
Even if its a pcs of poop like my two acmes at work i will deal with it and work through it.
Over time we will get to kow each other and it will all work out.:breakdown

I been checking out yourmicro.com and from what I seen there I have to go with the acme. Them there acmes been paying my bills here.

have you been to one18th.com?? they have alot of members and info.

i would still get her a mt2 with a vw beatle body or something.... :D

You Might also look into the X-Ray NT-18. It's a great quality Nitro 18th scale. They bill themselves as the "Luxury RC Model company."

http://www.teamxray.com/teamxray/pr...Xnet_Session=a4afb8f61a3bd9ac33b406d72efa03aa

It's about $365 plus radio.

Ditto on the Xray recommendation. I had the NT18T and it was a nicely engineered truck. On thing I did notice though is that these smaller engines can be a little finicky to tune and run time is very short with such a small tank. Also parts availability can be a little tough. Unless you are primarily an internet shopper, I'd look to see what your LHS carries for parts.

I personally think that a RC10GT is the best starter platform for nitro.
It's small, (1/10th scale) It's quick, just about every LHS has part's in stock for it and it's simple to work on.

After that, then buy a Savage X and dump $1000.00 in upgrades just to piss off the neighbors.

That last part is optional.

The x ray is real nice but I think it would be a little pricey for being the first one. I'm looking more towards the Chaos or the Acme.
That x ray is up there rated with the team vtx. www.teamvtx.com.
Now that is a sweet rc. All the alum and looking real nice and no mods needed out of the box..
Still a little undecided right now but I have a little time while I'm finishing up another project.

If you're into Nitro, the last part is mandatory.
