RC Driving Style
hi all!!! I'm fairly new to rcs. have been driving them for about a year now and still have much to learn. i bought an mgt 8.0 and it ran great til about a week ago. i went to adjust the 2nd gear shift point and I'm not sure if i did it right or something wrong. to my problem.. what it does is as I'm starting the truck it is jumping forward like its ready to take off and its not even running. and then i got it running and it did not want to move as i hit the throttle but when it did i was close to 80% throttle and it was creeping along and at 80% I'm usually on two wheels.. any body plz help. this is my fav truck i have and would love to fix it myself. pix n links r always helpful. thanks for ur time.

So my problem is that their is something in the tranny that is causing my RC to go in and out of reverse as it spins.. does anyone have any idea wat I could have broke or done to it. My RC is useless at the moment. I'm disappointed. Advice plz....

I've got a 4.6 myself. Theres a couple things to look at:

1) you could have a sheared pin in the tranny that is keeping you from enbgaging into gear.

2)Judging by your first post I was thinking your slipper clutch was to loose or

3)Your clutch may be messed up. But seeing as to how you say its in the tranny I would assume you have already taken a look at these already.

i took it apart n fixed it. it was a loose screw. but my carb is not letting gas thru unless i throttle up. y is that? and at times i can't even move the carb it is locked. i have to manually pull it to get it to release. idk what it could b. any advice?

If your carb is bound up than I would start by lookin at your linkages. I dont know the setup for an 8.0 though. Typically if something is binding than its a matter of making adjustments to loosen everything back up. Also be aware that witn my experiences Associated makes a real good truck but there are ALOT of tweaks to get it running perfect. I a;lmost threw mine away because I was so frustrated but after some cheaper upgrades its my most used rig (Nitro anyway!!) Just be prepared for some possible headaches and good luck!!

thanks man!! i think i figured it out but i have two tmaxx a jato an madbeast and a stampede all nitro..mgt is def my fav and most used. but what upgrades do u suggest? mine is all stock. i am def doin metal bumpers and skid plates and a roll cage/bar. anything else i should do? I'm goin to buy another mgt brand new soon. should i stick with 8.0 or buy diff?

Never had the 8.0 so I can't say if you should stick with it or not. As far as others I like the 4.6 but have been told by many others to stay away from the 3.0 because its severly underpowered and a little smallish for a MT. I've upgraded the suspension with RPM arms and knuckles along with Tmaxx bigbore shocks. The biggest upgrade is the Dynamite BigRed .28 I dropped in it. The power this thing produces is INSANE!!! Been thru 3 sets of tires as they get spinning so fast they rip apart from the rims!! Its a blast to attempt to drive!!!

mgt problems

Hey. I'm pretty new to Nitro and i started off with a mgt 8.0 . It ran really good but now it won't stay running . It. wont shift into second . And after 120 degrees it won't run which is cold for the truck. Any help is appreciated . Thank you :)

Have you familiarized yourself with the stickies at the top of the forum? There is plenty of useful info in there. Now that said:

1 - If it wont stay running I would look at your settings on the carb. Its either rich and is choking out or lean to the point there isnt enough fuel feeing it. 2 - Your shift point can be easily ajusted by a slight turn of a setscrew in the tranny. There should be a plug on the tranny case that will give you access to the shiftpoint. Be aware that if your tuning is off it will affect your shiftpoint. When I start my 4.6 there are times where I may have to lean it in the beginning to get it to shift. And finally 3 - This is still tied to your tuning abilities as you are right that 120 is to cold which would typically mean you are running to rich and need to lean her out. Hope this helps!!

Thank Ypu very much. I bought it used and i did not come with a manual . Ypu helped lots. I got it shifting good and runs decent :)
