k well i had a plastic 49Tooth spur gear that came w/ my savage and it got worn out very easy.....so i got a medal one. some people have said that they put more stress on your tranny....is this true??? has it actually happened to someone? or is it just a bigger chance that u will mess up ur tranny with the medal spur gear, than the plastic ones? i will soon be running it in a collari 30 engine.........should i get the plastic..........? or am i fine w/ medal one???

thanks
mark

well if you get a steel spur gear you will want to upgrade your CB to a hardened one or you will say bye bye to yhe CB. The only real problem I could think of that could happen is the heat generated by two metal objects spinning against each other. Make sure your mesh is spot on and not too tight or loose.

k thanks jon2 i got new a clutch bell w/ it. i got a robinson racing one or something like that........52 tooth (only one they had). well thats cool it'll work cuz i will go through plastic spurs like crazy w/ the collari!

I bought a Robinson racing metal spur gear and ran the stock clutch bell, well that lasted about 1 tank. It tore all the teeth off the CB. After that I used the Robinson CB that came with the spur and I haven’t had a single problem with it yet. The gears look as good as the day I put them in and it's been about 1.5 gallons so far. No tranny problems ether. :2cents:

I have had the robinson racing metal spur and clutch bell set for over 2 gallons and they still look like the day i put them on.

I'm running the robinson as well after about 8 spur gears. it was just melting the plastci. i got a 16t/48t and havent had any problems so far.

do u want lower teeth or higher teeth on your spur and CB for wheelies? or does it not really matter. i want wheelies...i got 15/52 gearing combo right now can i do em?

will my wasp do wheelies w/ 15/52 gearing tho? do u want less or more for wheelies? i got my wasp today...i wish i had some nitro!

For wheelies, you want the lowest amount of teeth on the clutch bell as possible. With a wasp .28 though, you could go mid range and probably still pull some wheelies.
