ok like the title says, my esc is flashing red and green simultaneously. in the manual it says when the esc flashes red and green simultaneously, that the esc has entered over voltage protection. i know that people run their MERV's all the time with 2s lipos in series without problems. how do they do it? i've tried it with low voltage detection turned off and it works fine. i just don't want to run it so much that the lipo's get too discharged and get ruined. what am i doing wrong or what is it that i need to do?

I think your problem is trying to run in series where it should be parallel. I'm not an expert with electrics, but from what I read in my manual for the VXL system I have for my Slash the max input voltage is 11.1v. A pair of 2s in series would be 14.8v.

Again though I'm new to this area so maybe someone else will pop in with a more definitive answer for you. But then again you are self procalimed an RC guru.

I believe that a pair of 2s LiPos can be run in series, Racer, but I'm not sure either.

itheir are a crap load of videos of people runnin them on youtube with the stock setup and I'm just curious as to how they do it....

the only way to run 2s in series is to put the esc in nimh mode. this turns off your low voltage safety. i have done it and it is STUPID fast. there is no need to run it this way. put 2 3s's in it and run it in parallel and in lipo mode.

you are correct. Although a pair of fully charged 2S lipo's in series would be 16.4V

You can indeed run 4S on the stock esc by placing it in mimh mode however is not intellectually sound in my opinion. You would be better off just buying a brushless combo rated for 4S-6S and running that. Sell your setup while it is still good to offset the cost of a new setup.

I couldn't imagine that little thing on 6S man. . .it would be more uncontrollable than it already is on 3S

I was just talking about the rating. Although with the proper kv motor 6s would be ideal. Super smooth with tons of torque and wheelspeed. Can't go wrong with higher voltage.
Heck, I'll take anything on 12s personally.

Lol yea I've been running it on NiMh mode. I went to my LHS (which is an hour away....grrrm...) And he said that his slash is the same way. So he called traxxas and they said that u CAN run it in NiMh mode with the lipos. Just don't run the batteries down all the way. Once u notice it slowin down, STOP and recharge... With the 2 cell lipos in series this thing is nuts. I had it on a carpet track and it is night and day difference then the asfault. Insane!!! And I couldn't imagine it with a pair of 3 cell lipos neither. Take care guys, and I appreciate all the great advice! Anyone know of a brushless esc/ motor combo that is made for running 2 and 3 cell lipos in series that u can drop in the MERV????
