Megetech Engines EDIT* MACH .26

Anyone ever heard of this manufacturer? I was at the LHS today and someone was running a Megatech .26 in an Ofna Titan Deluxe. Supposedly this thing rocks. The Titan was in peices so I couldnt see it run but the LHS guy said hes got 2 more and he'll make me a deal for the engine and a pipe.

Anyone know of this engine? I can't find any info on a .26 on the Megatech website.

Many people should answer up to having heard of Megatech. Their M16 engine was a fairly popular inexpensive engine. Megatech also had a reputation for producing some real bad engines (we're talking of the not good variety). At least that is the reputation they have.

As for that particular engine, I haven't heard anything about it...until this thread.

When the M16 runs its a strong engine. When is the key word. The M16 in particular has a bad reputation for being unreliable I purchased one about 2 years ago and had so much trouble with it I promptly poop caned it. It was hard to start and wouldn't hold a tune for more than 1 tank of fuel The reason I got it in the first place was because I heard so many people saying how bad it was and I had a hard time believing it. Believe it!

Yeah I saw a M16 and remember it because of the name being the same as the gun. I havent got a chance to see one in action though.

I recently purchased the new Megatech NEO .16ST. I broke it in friday and ran it saturday and was thouroughly impressed. Take in mind my track is tight and technical with 1 straight being about 80 feet long. I was running with my buds who have the same truck (XXXNT) one running a Picco .12 (TP095) and the other the Mugen MT .12. This NEO is sposed to be a torque motor so they started pulling me down the long straight but in the tigher 180 style S turns I would pull them from turn to turn. The engine pulls really hard down low. This is what I was after, a smooth easy to control engine for the little tight tracks.

For the price ($65.95 New) I couldn't be more pleased. It ran very competitive for the purpose it was intended. It makes an excellent small track engine.

Today I plan on gearing it a little taller due to its abundance of down low power. I think I may have had it geared too low(17/51). I also plan on gettying the temps above 200 and see what it does cause being new I still ran it rich yesterday.

I have only one problem with the engine. NO non pullstart model!

Once it is throughly broken in let us know how it holds a tune. My biggest issue was loosing tune while running. It would flame out often and not want to start without having to start the tuning process over more often than not.

What other engines have you purchased, broken in, and are using for comparison? Just wondering what you are using as a baseline for judgment.

Other engines include....OS .12 CV, OS .12 CV-r, and Mach .15.

Just came in from running and the taller gear was too far the other way....caused it to lug a bit....

It held the initial tune most of the morning then the sun came out and it warmed up quiet a bit....I leaned a bit and it ran good the rest of the day.

I believe the guy said "mach.26" not "megatech". You can see the engine at horizon hobby for $139.99.

So you were with Robriguez when this conversation occurred? This puts a different spin on things. The engine is a Dynamite product. Not certain what that means in the way of quality increase over Megatech, but that does put this thread in a new light.

For those interested HERE'S HH PAGE that Team 17 mentioned.

I don't think so. Robriguez clearly stated Megatech in his post. How were we supposed to know he was told about the Mach .26. His mix up is not our "bad".

Yes I was there. I heard the whole conversation. :shy: The guy clearly said a Mach .26. I'll testify in court.:jester:

Megatech .26

If I was on the ball, I would have picked up on the .26 and at the least questioned it. Instead I went off on my normal M16 rant.

You would think my 40 years of RC experience would have put up a flag.
(40 years = My dad had an rc when I was born)

He was asking about some new engine. I got thrown by the Megatech, and thought they just might be making a play for some big block power.

Team 17, thanks for clarifying Robriguez's remarks.

Eddy, I guess I can claim about the same. My dad had an RC when he was thinking about having me. Or does experience only happen when you actually participate.

Well, Having never heard the name Megatech before in my life I have no idea where the hell I got that name from but... whetever.

So.... Does anyone know anything about the MACH .26?? Is it a good engine? Reliable? Apparently its pretty cheap.

Dunno much about the .26 but my XXXNT came with the .15 and it ran great for a good while. It did however lack the power of the likes of the OS Max CV(R) but then again it was only a .6 hp where the OS was a 1hp.

I had no problem with the Mach other than power....

Vincemaxx119 stated that he has one in his T-Maxx. You might try PM-ing him with questions. From the tenor of some of his posts, he seems new to the engine, but he can give you his views on it.
