Those were the old tamiya and Associated ceramic POS's. While i still wouldn't use one, the "newer" say like from 1985
They used plastics for the main body with the metal contacts underneath. When used with their switch lube they became very good in water. i had 4 or 5 Clods with their stock MSC in them and they worked great for a full of mud, drive it into the lake basher.
