Maybe the cold wasn't too forgiving on those tiny little servos. It was very sluggish.
Didn't catch this on the video but I took it up around 100 feet and the wind blew it into the roof of my house, and that is where it is currently resting...

i think it just needed a little nap LOL

That rescue color scheme looks great against the snow, now you gotta rescue it from the roof though. :(
The heli spent the night on my roof but I pulled it down this morning, blew the ice out, put in a new pack, and it flew...

That is a cool looking copter! Is it easy to fly? I mean aside from ending up on the roof? 😁

Not sure if I have a good answer to that. Electronic stabilization has come a looooooong way since I started flying RC helicopters 20 years ago, so I would say that it is not too difficult to fly if the wind is low. The reason it punched into the roof of my house is that I was being stupid and took it higher than it should have been and it was simply overcome by the gusts.

@WickedFog Here is an old school video of me flying a Trex 600 I built years ago. This heli did not have any flybarless stabilization - just an old-school mechanical flybar- but there was a gyro on the tail rotor. I used to fly the crap out of that helicopter until I accidentally planted it in the ground flying it at night...

That would scare the crap out of me. A machine with samurai swords zipping around at the speed of sound lol. Nope. You are way braver than I am.

Awesome video though, and some mad skills bro!

Probably why I am more into cars now. Flying those big helicopters was challenging.
These days I am mostly into scale stuff (I have a Black Hawk that is super cool) and like to fly them in a sedate manner.

Got any video of that?

I would be much more comfortable with an FPV setup that I could get off the ground from behind a concrete bunker, then fly it off out of site before sticking my head up 😅

Actually I don't have any video of the Black Hawk but when it warms up a bit I will recruit my camera person and shoot some vid for ya.
Never tried FPV with a helicopter but have tried it out with a few drones. I would really like to do an FPV setup with one of my cars

As a side note, I have never injured myself flying but I did take many, many precautions especially when I was flying the big stuff. Years ago I read a story about a guy from NY who lost control of his RC helicopter (about the same size I was flying in the video) and basically whacked his head off!

Yeah, a 19 year old kid. Chewy just posted that in a PM. Likely not wanting to share the story here. Pretty gruesome read 😥
