marking the antenna

Yep, you lay the body on there when it's clear and mark it with a sharpie.

If it's already painted, and the antennae has one of those split holders for it, you can take a coat hanger and cut it off with a pair of side cutters and file / sharpen it to a point, you want it just long enough to where right as the body is going to hit the posts, the hanger will touch and you can put a little pressure making a mark on the shell where the hole needs to go.

Thanks. the body is still clear but the antenna tube is to long for me to stick up in there to get a good mark. I tend to use coat hangers for everything around the house so that will be my course of action thanks again.

As long as the body is clear, now's the time to do it the easy way. Pull the tube out just enough to free it and let it lay flat. Now you eyeball from the top to the socket where the tube goes and mark the outside of the lid. Just don't forget you'll need to make the hole before you pull the outside mask cover or you'll remove the mark with it.

I was going to do that but sometimes I have a crooked eye :\:D

Antenna holes don't have to be as precise as body mount holes. If it's not perfectly above the antenna, it will bend wherever it needs to go. Before I ran 2.4gh I just eyeballed the spot slightly behind where I thought the antenna would come up, just so it angled back instead of forward (strictly for the look)

I always liked my antennas to lean back.....i think it made my trucks faster.....:hehe::p:

It's also a good idea to run it through the truck bed or windshield instead of the roof, if possible. If you're like me you'll be sliding upside down on pavement grinding your antenna off.
