I was finaly able to really get my Mammoth out and let it loose. I tell ya what there was NOTHING and I mean NOTHING that was able to touch me. And I can't drive for beans. there was a couple stock revos, one hopped up t-maxx and a slug I mean a savage .25 :hammer: as well as a few buggys. I really feel this MT is way overlooked and for the price you can't stop it. BOOOYA :fro:

I wouldnt say it rocks but it is fast. Everytime my buddy drives his something breaks.
Maybe its because he can't drive either. His mammoth is in pieces for 2 months now and parts arent that easy to find. Sure its fast..but like maxx said...try jumping it.

The Mammoth is a decent truck but when it comes to bashing it there are more things needed to make it worthy IMO!.The Shock towers are the weakest points. Upgrade to some really good ones. I have some that I and another buddy went in on to sell but then discovered the 1/8 thscale Buggies. I can sell you some if you are interested. PM me. The braces are the next weak point. I suggest getting another rear and front brace and adding them both to strengthen the braces. next is the radio box. the RX box is real easy to pop open. Try drilling some holes to the RX so you can zip tie it shut. The Mammoth was designed for the track and speed. It is a hell of a speed monster but think twice to bash.

I have cnc'd new HD shock towers. chassis braces are in the works as well as center diff plate and servo top plate. I'mm developing a denter dif plate and chassis braces as a 1 pc unit for super stiffness. I had no problems with any of the jumps. It dosent float like my mayhem but then again its a MT not a bug.

I "HAD" one, the operative word being "HAD". I couldn't rely on that thing running. It always seemed to be something.

Diffs that clicked (start of stripping the teeth in the diffs) The recommended fix only worked for awhile.

Center diff gears constantly stripping as well.

If XTM just put a bit more durability in it, it would be a very competitive truck...

Global hobbies has anything you need and so does my LHS and if they dont I'll build it.

Evrytime I jumped mine, I'd break something on it. Just look at the pics in my gallery. But as for racing, I'll ley ya know when I race it on May 1st at dirtrunners.

what was the recomended fix you heard of doing?

The problem was supposedly that the screws for the diffs would get loose after time and that the the diff needed to be shimmed very tight.

The recommendation was to shim the diffs so that the gears were pretty tight and to use longer screws. Some also recommended gluing the screws in place with something like JB Weld which I did. (Just a note, I'm no newbie to RC. Been doing it since the mid-eighties).

The fix lessened the frequency and amount of grinding, but it was not completely eliminated. Any time I'd get on the brakes hard on concrete it would still grind. But on dirt it was not occurring anymore.

The truck needs a slipper clutch or something like that to "relieve" the stress on braking hard or accelerating hard.

I'm currently having this problem... any other longer-term solutions?

Can I swap out the stocker diff for a better one? (recommendations are welcomed).

TIA :)

I beg to differ, I bought the truck from APRILARACER... this is what it looks like w/ the mods that me and my pops did.

Reason is munches gears is because of the twisting of the stock chassis and those stock braces are a joke. Once reinforced , the truck is in a different world.

Yeah that is what I saw. The towers and the rear center brace was really weak. Replace em with something better. 1badsti ..damn good idea.

Another thing that works to reduce chassis flex is the RCS roll cage. I normally don't spam like this but it really does. I beat the hell out of the shop mammy and it is on the original gears after 1.5 years.

1 Bad STi, wow!!! That looks stiff!!! (no jokes here please!!)

Well, you figure that with an open chassis lke that, they would at least make it stiffer with better braces. Good job with the braces, STI.

Damn that looks awesome.

I'm gonna see if I can't fabricate something similar in the next week or two. I'll post up pix if I come up with anything comparable. You have any blueprints (or tips) STi? :ponder2:
