Can you make your own fuel???? has anyone ever done it or hurd of someone doing it... it doesn't seem like it would be that hard if you have the right mixtures any imput..... the suff that nitro is made out of is dirt cheap.. Sooo can it be done?

It probable could be done but I wouldn't risk it seeing as I am a machinist not a chemist and wouldn't want to risk killing my engine or blowing myself up. I'll stick to making my own parts for now.

The hell with nitro, just use pure alcahol. $40 for a 50 gallon drum. All you have to do is tweak with the carb, and get it at the right temps. It's been done many times, only bad thing is, if to many people use it, the nitro companies will go out of buisness.

But beats buying a gallon for 15 bucks.......:devil:

skipper have you ever done that??? and dont you need oil for it to work. I was talking to someone that races alcahol powered funny cars and he know everything about acahol baced engines and he said it would work fine... anyone else have any imput on this subject

pure alcohol? Sounds Crazy to me. Fuel nees to have combustion(check) Lubrication-no, cooling-no. Alcohol doesn't sound good to me. But if you can...ill use it in my car.

hm Hmm weird, her in Denmark where I live almost all the local RC clubs mix there own fuel (alcohol + nitro and oil) so we are sure what it is we put trough ours engines.
You just have to have a special license before you can buy the pure alcohol but most of the clubs have on, so yes it is possible to mix you own fuel and it’s also rather easy

Back in the 60's when the gas prices soared during Nam', all the kids would use alcahol since it was dirt cheap, and produce no emissions what so ever. All they did was fiddle with the carb and boom thats it, twice the power, only problem was, they dont have "alcahol stations" every where. And your saying about lube and oil, alcahole is a natural lube and burns clea, will probably have to mix a slight oil to it. But yea I've done it in my Go-ped only, and man that thing flys. Plan to do it in my maxx...

**** Reality Check*****
Yes it can be done. If the manufacturers make it you can to.
Do they know more about this than we do? Probably.

Do your research first. The trick is in getting a lubrication package that works well This is a truly guarded secret that none of the manufacturers want us to know.

Again, do your homework. The only way you will know if it doesn't work well is when your engine goes By-By.

If there are any young people reading this, dont go and get some Rubbing Alcahol out of the medicine cabinet and put in your car/truck.

LOL thats funny...

All i need to know is the oil to fuel ratio these engine are short from being complicated

Pure alky WILL NOT WORK GOOD!!!!!!

Where i work, we sell Pure Alkyhol race fuel to Drag Racers.

I took my Tmaxx (old .15) up one day, and tried it. No Dice. No Oils to Lubricate = Peices or rod and piston blasting out of the bottom of the crankcase.

i got another .15 and tried it, but this time i mixed 17% Nitromethane, and some Lubricant (forget the name).

WORKED LIKE A holy moly CHARM!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just dont have the patience, or the Liscence to mix it up.

Pure alcohol 60 – 65 %
Synthetic oil 15 % (it have to be a good one / high quality oil, so its as clean as possible)
Nitro 20 – 25 %

Is normal use 20 % nitro but I know that there are others on this forum that use 25 - 30

Hm well here in Denmark you can buy the nitromethane at your LHS. You buy a bottle of nitro and
When you mix the fuel you put the right amount of the nitro in.

An example (the measure is in litres (1 gallon is about 4.5 litre))
We want to end up with 5 litre RC fuel.
pure alcohol = 3.25 l
oil = 0.75 l
nitro = 1.00 l

then it’s a blend of
65 % alcohol
15% oil
20 % nitro
