Yesterday the wife and I made the one tank trip to Motor City to attend one of the largest auto shows in the world, the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show). The Detroit show is probably second to only L.A. here in the states. Yesterday was the first day open to the public. Below is a list of Manufacturers that I've often seen there before that did NOT have a display.

  • Rolls Royce
  • Hummer
  • Porsche
  • Nissan
  • Infinity
  • Lamborghini
  • Mitsubishi
  • Aston Martin
  • Saab
As you can see there are some pretty big hitters that didn't show. My wife was looking around for Nissan and I kinda wanted to see a GT-R in person anyways. I asked somebody at a counter and was told that Nissan was there for press week then packed up there toys and went home. If I'm a bigshot at Honda I'm feeling pretty good about that.

... and the love of my life. Porsche. Brand new peformance sedan, not there. So dissapointed..

That blows, guess you know who cares about their customers!
Somebody here at work has a 370Z.....it's mouthwatering.
Also a cute little blond girl here bought herself a new Orange SS Camaro with the white rally stripes. I need to hook up with her! It's awesome.

Wow, thats a crazy long list! So basically Toyota and Honda were holding down the import scene all by them selves, thats nice for them.

i hate to say it but american cars have a long way to go to compete with japan. i own a grand cherokee that has issues but its all interior things. and a dodge ram thats good for now. my company truck is a ford van and i hate driving it. it feels cheap and the seat already has tears in it and its a 07. the best car i ever owned was an 87 toyota mr2. i drove it to 400k and it was running strong. i only replace the timing belt 4 times and the alternator twice with the water pump at the same time. i would still have it but i traded it in for a chevy truck that fell apart after 3 years. i hate to say it but my next car will be a toyota, honda, or nissan.

I am with you in that the GT-R rocks and I would love to see one. Felt the same about the Skyline GTR when it was still Japan only.

I am not shocked by this news at all. All the world is feeling the pinch right now. That being said I can't help but wonder now many manufacturers figure it is just a matter of time before our government makes us buy Fiats. Why waste their time on a dry market...
