So, I bought this thing after reviewing the description quite carefully and a conversation with the seller regarding the condition. The seller was quite insistent that he was an RC expert and that there was not one thing wrong with this car. Shipping was quite fast. As soon as I got it, I took it the lhs to get servos, receiver and to have it checked out. First thing that was noticed was the pulley guide, one side was missing. Next, one of the dog bones was bent, one side of the steering servo mount was missing, and the center belt was quite worn. The car itself was also built very poorly. The light scratches on the bottom were far from light and showed side to side scratches as well as front to back scratches...make your own conclusions. The tires, as I expected were mostly used, one set to the point where I through them out. Two sets do seem to be new. The $40 worth of gears was actually $28 worth according to the price tags. The battery, also claimed to be new, definitely is not unless someone did as much as they could to make it look old and used, and if so, they did a great job because it does look worn, dirty and used.

Now, I have already contacted PayPal and filed a complaint with them since the seller failed to respond and if they do not rectify this, I will be filing a formal mail fraud and internet fraud complaint.

Those of you with access to the chit-chat forum can testify to my abilities to obtain information on someone as I demonstrated with another seller/trader who was acting quite shady. Hopefully this seller will see the error of his ways and rectify this soon. I will keep you all informed.

You need to Do this in the Free for all as flaming another member is really risky. Get the Mods Involved!!!
 
This is not a flame, just stating facts. I just wanted to see what type of feedback I get here.
 
That is fine but are you selling anything now? This is best if you get the mods on . FastEddy is on now. Him or any other mod can help you.

This shows that half of the steering servo is missing (left side in the picture.)

This one, I had to put a washer on the inside of the pulley because the pulley guide was missing. The washer is not thick enough so I will need the correct part.

This one shows the pipe spring mount. It must have taken a hit and broke the plastic pin/nub that goes in the hole next to the screw to hold it in place.

With all this said,
Did you get 200.00 worth of car?

Not in any way saying that the seller is / isn't riping you off with a bad description.
Sometimes its best to step back and look at the big picture before you sink your teeth in.

Do you think he intensionally tried to pull the wool over your eyes or is his professional skill level and descriptive observations different than yours.

After asking him and yourself these questions, do what you feel is right.
 
Well, unless a dog bone can get bent without hitting anything, yes, I do believe he misinformed me intentionally. As you can see from the I'm conversation, I asked if it has been crashed and he thought that was funny. When you state "nothing is wrong with it" and there is, that is pretty intentional. He also stated that he only put 4 tanks through this thing. Now, a friend of mine ran his at the HPI Challenge and still runs it, lot more than 4 tanks so far with the same center belt and it does not look like this one, the one I pulled from it last night.

Now, to answer your question, did I get a $200 car, I don't know but I do know after I buy all I need, I am that much closer to a new kit, I would have been better buying the new kit. The main thing I have issue with here is that I was mislead and this has left a sour taste in my mouth and I do not see myself trading with anyone here again unless they have great feedback or send me their item first.

So a belt, a pulley guide, and a servo mount and dog bone right? Let me talley that new.

Dogbone 2 for...$8
Pulley set 4 for.$4
Belt................$7
Servo mount....$4 (if I have the part right)

I would have handled this in private. If he was unable to resolve it then post feedback that is according. To me in my opinion, it seems that is an awful lot of fuss $23 worth of parts brand new. Not saying he might have not been so straight with his answers, but put the condition into prespective. Now no one likes the be mislead so I understand but that's the way it goes down sometimes.

I have not always been perfect myself I admit, but I have ALWAYS taken care of someone if they had any problems.

I like to clear up one thing, this guy (Buncrana) is a major scamer! I have sold at least 15 RC cars within the last 6 months,I have never had 1 complaint! I am very meticulous when it comes to my RC's! I clean my cars more then I drive them! I would not or have not ever mislead anyone to buy my items, I'm true believer "in what comes around go's around"

This scamer won and paid for my item Wednesday at 5:07 pm September 21 He received this item Friday the 24 before noon his time. Does someone trying to sell broken or damaged goods ship there item to a buyer that quickly?? I live in California!

I am a 34 year Correctional Officer at Soledad State Prision. I have been into the RC hobby for 16 years .I do not play games with ignorent or underhanded people. I also have filed a claim with Ebay to report this person and his scams.

I built this R40 in question for my cousin, who kept it at my house and used it maybe twice with me. I ended up buying it and driving it about 4 tanks (Not Racing) This car was still in like new condition when I sold it to Buncrana, it had not 1 missing part or any damaged parts. I actually threw in some extra parts that where not listed on my add.

Buncrana uses the Ebay ID (irishmidak) if you look at his feedback and the feedback he has left for others, it clearly shows you what type of scam he likes play! Buncrana thinks that he can continue to play his scam on honest sellers! I will make sure it ends with me!

If anyone would like photos or would like to check my Ebay ID (juicy_jalepeno) or even email some of my previous buyers, please do so! Please beware of his potential scam, until he is stopped

I apologize to everyone having to read this, but this person needs to be set straight. I also feel that eveyone should warned, because this site was set-up by good people for RC Talk not RC scams. I will not shoot messages back and fourth with this person, so rest assure this will not become a arguing thread. I will let the Paypal and Ebay investigators set him straight!

Ok I am closing this thread for a few reasons. 1 It is not an item that is for sale or trade. 2 I do not agree with the fact you try to publicly blast this guy without trying to handle this in private. RCNT is not a plce for you to prematurely roast someone. You have been far from ripped off. 3. Anything that happens after this point is an arguement between you two and Ebay as it was not purchased here but on Ebay. They have a fraud division let them handle this for you. We are not mediators but forum moderators.
 
Update,

m3guy831 sent Buncrana a PayPal credit.
The amount is in line with what is needed to put the car into the condition that Buncrana believed was advertised.

After exchanging PMs with both parties I believe they are both good guys that had a bad experience. I have to say that m3guy831 swallowed a huge amount of crow, stepped up to the plate and showed that he willing to do what he can to put this to rest. I'm hoping that Buncrana can get past the taste of crow pie and do the same. Both people believe in their harts that they have been wronged by the other. Thank god this isn't a pistol range. 10 steps and rurn....

Thank you Eddy for taking it upon yourself to mediate this. I will retract all complaints once the transaction has been finalized. I will be happy to put this to bed and accept m3's offer.

Buncrana, not to cause a problem but I think it is a little unfair to condemn other members that do not have any feedback. After all yours is at a 0 also, so does that mean not to trade with you? This is just a question and not meant to start anything. My :2cents:
