M26 Flywheel question

I was wondering if the Mach 26 flywheel will work on the 427 engine. It looks like it'll fit, but I didn't want to put it on the crankshaft all the way without finding out first. The collete on the 427 looks different than the one that was in the flywheel from the .26.
 
According to the exploded drawings of both engines, the flywheel part numbers are the same. :dance:
 
Collets come in a variety of lengths and angles. I always keep everyone of them I can get my hands on. BUT any .21BB and up should use the same size collet and flywheel.
The LST has a huge flywheel but I like that it keeps the springs and clutch nut seperate.
It should work, you may need to shim the clutchbell a little different though.

You mean like adding shims in order to keep the CB on the shaft without any sliding around?

I used the clutch from my M26SS on the Mach427 with no issues yet.
 
Yeah it'll work no problem, there are slight variations in the shafts and tolerances. If you have problems try an hpi collet. If you need I can dif up some part numbers.

The engine you sent me already had a collet on it, I just used that one. I still have the original I can try if needed. Still haven't gotten this thing broken in yet. :hehe:
 
I always use what ever collet came with the flywheel I'm using. The LST flywheel collet is shallower than most collets that come with engines. Including the one on the 427.

I noticed that as well, I was able to get the clutch and CB installed without any issues and the CB and spur gears seem to match up well, so I'm going to go with that and see how break-in goes.
