Got an LST2 and ran a gallon of fuel through it so far. Never had any problems until now. It acts like it's in nuetral, but it's not. It will shift from forward to reverse and vice versa. If I pull on the throttle, the engine just revs. It happend after I took a jump pretty high and far. I checked the spur gears, slipper clutch, drive shafts, high/low selector, gear changing servo. Everything seems to be ok and working properly. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Anyong have any suggestions? It seems like a clutch problem to me, but wanted to check with you guys before I tear into the tranny.
Thanks,
Mike

Did you check to see if the Front and Rear driveshafts are spinning?

If it was as big a jump as you make it sound, and if you landed on power chances are you stripped something. It may be the tranny gears, or the diffs. Spin your spur gear and see if your driveshafts spin and the truck does not move then its your diffs, if your drive shafts do not spin then its something in your tranny.

does the cb/spur move when you hit the gas? if so then spin the spur with your finger (with the truck off) and trace movement untill it stops. then you will know where the damage is.

vbgagnon and beason are right. spin the spur gear to see if the driveshafts move. if no prob amy be in tranny or slipper. if yes then probably clutch assm.

I went to my lhs today and we went over everything and found that the nut that you adjust the slipper clutch with was stripped. We put a new nut on and I ran it for a few minutes and it ran good. But, when I got home, I ran it some more and the same thing started happening. I checked the nut again and it was loose. I tightened it up again and ran it for about ten minutes, almost a whole tank of fuel, and it ran good. Then it happened again. I checked the nut and the nylon ring inside the nut was melted. The shaft was so hot, I couldn't touch it without getting burnt. I called the guy at the hobby store and he said there is too much slippage and that is what was causing the heat. Tomorrow I'll have to find another nut and try it tighter than what the manual says the factory setting is. Getting frustrated, but I'm gonna figure it out.

That is true there is obviously alot of slippage. i have two lst's and i run the slippers a little tighter than the factory setting's. first adjust the slipper nut to where u think it is supposed to be. Second The way i cheak the slipper is to take off the gear cover and set the truck on the bench/floor with all four tires on ground. third hold all the tires from moving then attempt to turn the spur gear. if it is easy to get the gear to "slip" the nut is too loose tighten the nut up some more. when the nut is tight enough it will be rather difficult to get it to slip by hand.
well hope that helps
some times i dont make sense to my self

Associated 5-40 nuts will fit. And they are allot tougher than the Losi ones.

Today I replaced the nut for the slipper adjustment. I ran it at factory setting and it ran good for about 10 minutes and again and it did the same thing. It just revs. I took off the gear cover and checked the nut. The nylon ring was melted again. Something is causing the shaft to get really hot. I figured there was too much slippage. So, I replaced the nut and tightened the slipper clutch down all the way and ran it tight. It ran good again for another ten minutes or so and it did the same thing again, revs and doesn't move. The dang nut was melted again. What the heck is going on??!!!!!!!! I guess I'm going to have to tear into it this week and find out what's wrong.

I suggest you clean the whole slipper assembly too. If some oil or grease got in there, it will slip no mater what.

I found out what the problem was. I was missing a slipper pad and 2 spacers and bearing behind the slipper clutch adjustment spring. Missing those pieces caused the small spur gear to rub on the enclosure and cause enough heat to melt the nylon ring in the locknut. I took the truck to LHS and they replaced all the parts without cost and assembled it for me. Ran it yesterday and ran great except for later in the day I started burning up glow plugs left and right. Went through 3 of them. I think I have it set to lean. I'll have to riched it up tonight to see if that corrects the problem. Thanks for everyones help.
