I want to put a cheap low turn motor in my Hornet just for fun but I've read that you need certain ESC's that can handle the extra current draw. I figured it wouldn't matter b/c I'm running a mechanical but then I read that you shouldn't use that at all. What would happen if I used a 17T, 15T, or 13T cheap Venom Fireball motor with an 8.4V battery running through a stock mechanical speed control? Would I have a melt down? My friend just bought a 17T to use with a new Hornet and it's stock ESC, will he have any problems as well?

Get a Novak Rooster for 15T and up.

Get a Tekin Rebel 2 for 12 turn and up.

A stock hornet MSC can't handle much under 17 turns.

If it does work, isnt the stock esc forward/brake/reverse? Meaning that when you press gas, it will go either WOT forward/neutral/WOT reverse.

That would be really hard on the tranny with a low turn motor
