i got a second savage this time a 25. when i checked the temp i got a reading of 185. does any one have any suggestions to how much i should lean it out? or should i just start from the factory settings and work from there? and yes the motor is fully broken in.

If it's running well at 185, don't touch the LSN, leave it.
If you have good acceleration but lack performance, turn the HSN in about an 1/8th of a turn at a time untill it gets to were you like it.
Don't go higher than 250 degrees.
I'd say 220 degrees is a good temp.

Personally I disagree with Ratzo. 185 is too low, it does not allow the piston and sleeve to expand properly and will cause premature wear, thus shortening engine life. I would want it in at least the 205-210 range at minimum.

What are the ambient temperaures that you are running at? If it runs really well at 185, wrap the head with either paper and a rubber band, foil, or a sock to help bring the temps up. You don't have to necessarily block all the cooling fins on the head, , just enough to bring the temps up higher than 200 degrees. Personally I like to run my engines at a minimum of 220 degrees.
