low speed needling setting??

good morning ppl
i know the setting it 2.5 to 3 out from bottom,
but hmmmm how the hell do you know WHERE bottom is
i tried and it does not stop goes thru to the point it starts moving the carb barrel
i just installed a new carb body and i can not get this damn thing right ,it has a helluva flat spot just off idle and then it takes off
please help ,thank you

I had the same problem when I first got mine. Someone here told me to hold the carb slide closed and turn the mixture screw in. When you feel the carb slide move, that's "bottomed" and then you can back it out the number of turns you want from there.

Working from rotary carbs on my RS4 and MT2 it was freaking me out until someone explained that.

BE VERY CAREFUL when you hit bottom on that screw...if the tip of the needle gets mushroomed at all, your tuning turns to doo-doo......
 
i was and i just did it not to long ago ,havent had time to run it
but i am sure its good to go ,
